Roles and responsibilities

Administering emergency medical care to injured and critically ill in an emergency environment or while transporting them to other medical facility as a member of an emergency medical team.

Requirements

  • Provide care in the process of resuscitate patients in an emergency before hospital admission.
  • Determine the priority under the supervision of line manager for required emergency care as outlined.
  • Determine nature and extent of injury or illness and record patient information and vital signs
  • Provide medical care during emergency situations, such as CPR, AED, control bleeding, prevent spinal damages, etc.
  • Lift and move patients as necessary for treatment and transportation to medical facilities.
  • Monitor patient's conditions and stabilizations while en-route to the hospitals
  • Operate the portable x-ray machine and carrying out portable x-ray orders done through RRT
  • Process invoices and payment in RRT: the concerned staff is responsible for collecting the payment from the client, authentication of doctor's orders through VIDA and generating electronic invoices, handing over invoices and payment to finance office
  • Operate emergency medical apparatus and equipment.
  • Drive ambulance as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of medical equipment and supplies and ensure equipment are working properly.
  • Keep vehicle clean and in efficient operating condition
  • Help to calm down the family members of the victim and the public at the scene
  • Provide patient and family education as per the needs.
  • Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMC.
  • Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
  • Perform other applicable task and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
Desired candidate profile
  • Clinical Expertise:
    • Thorough knowledge of emergency medical care, including trauma assessment, patient stabilization, airway management, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and pharmacology.
    • Ability to perform advanced medical procedures such as intubation, intravenous (IV) access, administering medications, and defibrillation under emergency conditions.
    • Strong understanding of patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment protocols for various emergency conditions (e.g., cardiac arrest, stroke, trauma, respiratory failure).
  • Decision Making in High-Pressure Situations:
    • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in emergency settings where quick thinking is critical.
    • Ability to prioritize patient care effectively when faced with multiple patients or complex medical situations.
  • Medical Equipment Proficiency:
    • Skilled in using a wide range of medical equipment, including but not limited to stretchers, automated external defibrillators (AED), oxygen tanks, spinal immobilization devices, and other advanced life-saving devices.
    • Competence in maintaining and troubleshooting medical equipment during emergencies.
  • Patient Care and Comfort:
    • Ability to assess, monitor, and comfort patients under stress or in pain, making them feel as secure and calm as possible during transport.
    • Effective communication with patients, families, and other medical professionals about treatment plans and procedures, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Clear and concise communication with dispatchers, medical teams, and other first responders.
    • Ability to provide detailed reports and documentation regarding patient condition, care provided, and transport.
    • Strong ability to explain medical procedures and patient care options to non-medical individuals, such as patients or their families.
