- Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for the Contractor's onsite personnel, facilities, and operations. Responsible for a wide variety of high risk operations, facilities, and environmental conditions associated with Aviation Training, Maintenance, and Flight activities. Promotes and advocates the overall safety program of the Aviation Institute Division Manager in all aspects of flight and ground operations. Provides oversight and conducts required inspections of associated Facilities, Maintenance Operations, Flight Operations, Training Operations, and Support Operations to insure a safe operating environment for employees and the customer. Conducts regular safety training with company employees and MNG soldiers. Aids Division Manager in oversight of AS9110 program, specifically regarding risk management, root cause analysis, and internal audits. Conducts On the Job Training with MNG officers to assist them in management of their Aviation Safety Program.**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
- A. Duties/responsibilities:
- 1. Responsible for the coordination of safety activities, policies and procedures, and incident reporting with the appropriate Management chain to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
2. Responsible for supporting the safe operation, employment, maintenance, and flight procedures of MD530 Series Aircraft.
3. Required to attend regular organizational safety meetings.
4. Provides technical leadership, training and guidance to subordinate safety professionals.
5. Assists in resolving the especially complex and difficult problems and cases where guidelines are very general or lacking.
6. In cooperation with the Flight Operations Manager, assist in the development of the Airfield Accident Plan and conduct quarterly tests of the plan involving employees and tenant support activities to the maximum extent.
7. Develop applicable SOPs and regulations as guidance for all employees.
8. Aid Division Manager in oversight of AS9110 program, to include risk identification/mitigation and root cause analysis.
9. Plans and schedules periodic surveys of activity safety programs and facilities.
**10.** Provides advice and guidance to the Aviation Institute Division Manager, and other appropriate personnel in a wide variety of industrial and administrative functions, including hazard analysis and risk assessment, accident investigation/analysis.
**11.** Respond to and assist in the management of airfield aircraft emergency and accidents/incidents.
**13.** Investigates and analyzes accidents and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes and contributing elements in coordination with leadership. Provides follow-up guidance to appropriate personnel as required.
**14.** Initiates and carries out safety education activities, promoting safety awareness through safety training sessions and briefings, preparing safety literature and promotional materials.
**15.** Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends the appropriate acquisition and use of maintenance stands, hoist, ladders, and other restraint and support equipment.
**16.** Work with environmental specialist to ensure proper handling, use and training of all Hazardous Materials; ensure employees understanding and use of HAZMAT documentation.
**17.** Responsible for the purchase, installation, and inspection of all safety equipment within assigned facilities.
**18.** Responsible for the Aviation Flight Safety management and oversight of assigned maintenance and instructor pilot flight crews in their assigned day-to-day flight operations.
**19.** Conducts periodic announced, unannounced and directed safety inspections of all operations.
**20.** Conduct required safety related training for employees.
**21.** Provide technical training and guidance to MNG safety professionals.
**22.** Other duties as assigned and or directed by management.
- B. Independence: Reports to the Aviation Institute Division Deputy Manager. Works within the rules and regulations of Army airfield flight operations and safety guidelines. Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.- C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees all Safety related programs and personnel.**Minimum Qualifications**
- A. Education Level: Minimum High School Graduate required. Bachelor’s degree desired. Military Aviation Safety Officer Course graduate required. Rotary Wing Aviation rating required. AS9100/9110 Lead Auditor qualified desired.
- B. Experience: Seven (7) years’ experience as an Aviation Safety Officer required. Battalion level or higher experience required. Former CW4/5 preferred.
