Ophthalmic Assistant I

Assists in the daily operation of the Outpatient Ophthalmology Clinic. Provides patient care that complies with established standards and performs a variety of technical ophthalmic procedures.
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
1.Overlooks the booking and scheduling of patients for the Ophthalmology Operating Room and the minor record requests, and maintains log.
2.Coordinates the booking and scheduling of patients for the Ophthalmology Operating Room and minor and day surgeries.
3.Assigns staff to all clinics, establishes work schedule for required consultants and support staff.
4.Reviews patient medical records for health status, appointment lengthy and designated Ophthalmologist. Places appointment orders in Power Chart.
5.Provides assessment, plans of care and evaluation of specific patient population, and provides follow-up care as necessary.
6.Coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patient receiving treatment in Ophthalmology Services.
7.Develops and implements protocols related to clinical specialty. Plans and facilitates Ophthalmology Protocol clinic.
8.Coordinates delegated management responsibilities for staff. Liaises with other department to coordinate activities and resolve problems.
9.Schedules all add-on appointments in ICIS in the appointment bar for same day and next day. Responsible for rescheduling patients at short notice.
10.Ensures equipment is properly maintained and in operating condition.
11.Follow all Hospital related policies and procedures.
12.Participates in self and others’ education, training, and development, as applicable.
13.Performs other related duties as assigned.
**Education**:
Bachelor’s or Associate/Diploma Degree in Ophthalmology or related discipline is required.
**Experience Required**:
- Grade 08:
Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor’s or four (4) years with Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
- Grade 09:
- Four (4) years as Ophthalmic Assistant I at KFSH&RC.
- Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
- One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].
**Other Requirements(Certificates)**:
Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
