JOB PURPOSE
This role is to manage the department’s activities related to Documentary Credit-based transactions specifically the issuance, confirmation, amendment, extension, negotiation, acceptance and cancellation of Import/Export Letter of Credit and Standby Letter of Credit. It also responsible to ensure of adhering to the controls within the set guidelines specific to documentary letters of credit, efficient document checking, and complete file maintenance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the issuance, confirmation, amendment, extension, negotiation, acceptance and cancellation of Import/Export Letter of Credit and Standby Letter of Credit
- Supervise drafting the technical terms and conditions to ensure proper construction of documentary letters of credit
- Supervise the checking of Documentary Credits and trade documents for adherence with L/C terms, Uniform Customs and Practice, and consistency across trade documents
- Ensure compliance with set quality and controls when reviewing documentation, endorsement, and dispatching
- Supervise and ensure accuracy and timely recording of activities in the system
- Supervise staff adhere to the controls within the set guidelines specific to compliance in coordination with the Compliance function, Bill of Lading verification, invoices, verification of container at the port etc.
- Supervise staff maintain complete records and track existing Letters of Credit for pending inquiries, discrepancies and resolution of documents and reporting as per department procedures
- Provide trade advice on workability of the documentary credit to clients and RMs
- Participate actively in department level improvement initiatives for documentary credit, documentation of manuals, department work plan, system development and enhancement etc.
- Supervise staff generating activity / progress reports for management and the clients
- Liaising with TD/Risk/IDB in establishment of RMA or other related relationship
- Passing relevant SWIFT messages

Qualifications & Other Certifications
- Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics
- Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)
- Trade Operations Certification

Language Skills
- English, Arabic, and French are compulsory
