PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Project Manager's role is to plan and supervise projects to ensure their completion on time and within budget. They are tasked with leading and managing enterprise software projects from the initial kick-off to the final go-live, which includes initiation, scoping, planning, and closure, along with documenting lessons learned, and delivering directly to customers. This hands-on position requires full accountability for project delivery, managing both customer expectations and internal stakeholders, while proactively addressing potential issues and managing necessary changes. A critical function of this role involves establishing project success criteria and consistently setting and managing the expectations of all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Successfully execute the project to the agreed schedule, budget, and scope by Monitoring and control.
Work within defined governance processes and perform the relevant project management processes - i.e. initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close, and the supporting processes e.g. scope, cost, time, issue, risk, resource, communication, stakeholder management.
Develop the project artifacts including (charter, logs, progress reports,...) and plan the project based on a defined need - results in detailed scope/budget/schedule baseline.
Plan and manage project change.
Reports on variances to the approved project baseline
Close the project to formalize acceptance of the project result and release project resources.
Interface and communication with the project team, management, and stakeholders.
Manage project work and resources to enable successful and timely completion of the project.
Performs gate reviews and quality assurance reviews with all aspects of the organization and business sponsors.
Manage external contracts and suppliers where required.
Support development of business cases with the customer team including leading on the solutions estimate.
Ensures that quality project standards are met.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Experience in managing assigned projects with personal accountability for delivering on time and cost for projects
Knowledge and use of Project management methodology, tools, and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management, and cost management)
IT background with experience across the systems development life cycle with experience in all project phases - plan, initiate, design, build, test, implement. is a Plus.
Strong teamwork skills across geographically dispersed virtual teams.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (including negotiation)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to communicate fluently in English and Arabic both verbally and in writing.
Desirable - experience in managing contracts; ensuring clients and suppliers alike perform in accordance with the original agreement.
EDUCATION
A degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent work experience.
**Experience**:
5+ years of experience in project management
Work experience in a professional and consultancy services industry firm is preferred.
1 to 3 years of working experience for government and semi-government clients.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Project management certification is preferred (PMI/CAPM or PMP or ACP, PRINCE2)
Familiarity with ITIL v2 or 3 would be advantageous.
Liferay experience is a plus.
