Consultant Interventional Radiologist

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and
Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
3.2. Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the Director of
Radiodiagnostics & Medical Imaging in accordance with individually approved
clinical privileges.
3.3. Responsible for the maintenance of high standards of diagnostic examinations.
3.4. Responsible for the implementation of radiation protection procedures.
3.5. Responsible for consultation with medical staff on the radiological investigation of
their patients in order to decide whether any examination requested is appropriate or
necessary.

Rotates through each imaging sub-specialty as required by the Director of
Radiodiagnostics & Medical Imaging and is expected to have sufficient breadth of
training to undertake this rotation.
3.7. Will be required to attend all departmental meetings.
3.8. Participates in the on-call duties as required by the departrnent.
3.9. Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the Director of
Radiodiagnostics & Medical Imaging and Director of Postgraduate and Academic
Affairs in planning a prograrnme of career development for trainees.
3.10. Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality
Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as
applicable.
3.11. Fulfrlls the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to
continuing medical education.
3.12, Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.
3.13. Deputises for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during
the absence ofhis colleagues.
3.14. Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard
to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
3.15. Participates in the forward planning, ffid fuither development of the
department/division.
3.16. Serves on hospital committees as requested.
3.I7. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
3.18. Educates patients and/or families on matters relevant to the patient’s condition/s.
3. I 9. Protects and upholds the rights of the patients and their families.
3.20. Participates in quality improvement and patient safety activities and attends quality
improvement educational activities as appropriate.
3.21. Adheres to infection control guidehnes.
3.22. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
3.23. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her
knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical
facilities

Ability to speak, write and read Arabic and English.
