Assistant Resident Engineer

**Your new role, what's involved?**
- Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) in overseeing the construction activities and ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Monitor the contractor’s work to ensure adherence to quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinate with the project team, including architects, consultants, and contractors, to resolve technical issues.
- Review and interpret design drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to site inspectors and engineers.
- Conduct daily site inspections and ensure construction works comply with approved designs and standards.
- Identify and report non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
- Verify that materials used on-site conform to approved submittals and technical specifications.
- Monitor and evaluate the contractor’s workmanship and methods to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in preparing inspection and test plans (ITPs) and review test reports from laboratories.
- Maintain detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and site instructions.
- Support the Resident Engineer in reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, and RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all site-related correspondence, approvals, and reports.
- Coordinate with stakeholders regarding permits, approvals, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor project schedule and milestones, ensuring work progress aligns with the baseline program.
- Identify potential delays and risks, and report to the Resident Engineer with mitigation strategies.
- Assist in conducting progress meetings and preparing meeting minutes.
- Verify contractor’s monthly progress reports and support in certifying work completion.
- Ensure the contractor follows health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations on-site.
- Report safety violations and coordinate with the HSE officer to enforce corrective actions.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:

- A BEng / BSc (Hon) in Civil/Structural Engineering or other relevant qualification.
- Minimum 15 years experience in managing major construction projects.
- Have regional experience.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and techniques.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
