Neom have engaged AECOM for the lead design for their 'Spine Infrastructure' for The LINE. As part of this requirements, AECOM have been requested to provide a site support team for the Mountain Tunnel construction works. This role forms a fundamental part of this service as Snr. Tunnel Construction Engineer acting as AECOM's main representative at each site package - reporting to the Tunnel Construction Manager and present at the main shift.The role incorporates the following main elements.AECOM's main representative at each site - reporting to the Tunnel Construction Manager and present at the main shift.Attendance at daily review meetings to ensure the Contractor’s proposed round excavation and support sequence (RESS) for each work front is in accordance with AECOM design.Review of construction records provided by the Contractor, including blast records, geotechnical face mapping, probe drilling records, ground monitoring, water inflow and grouting information.Review and technical sign-off of RESS sheet allowing excavation to progress. Undertake the review of technical submittals including; temporary works designs (e.g. drill and blast, tunnel ventilation, tunnel drainage designs), material acceptance requests (MARs), requests for information (RFIs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), field change design (FCD) proposals, shop drawings and as-built design information. Coordinate responses with design office through Tunnel Construction Design Manager. Review and technical approval of rock slope survey reports and support proposals submitted by the Contractor.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s marking out for slope support treatment prior to implementation.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for breaking of boulders prior to slope excavation works.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s on-site records for installation of slope support/stabilization measures.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for grouting of rock dowels and rock bolts. Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for installation of relief drains where required.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for installation of concrete buttresses on slopes where required.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s tunnel excavation rock mass classification and temporary support proposals.Technical support to Client in direction to the contractors to provide recommendations on improvement of site works in terms of speed, safety and efficiency (e.g. the installation of additional support measures based on conditions encountered)Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s arrangements for tunnel survey.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s survey and monitoring records.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for post-excavation grouting.Review and technical approval of the Contractor’s proposals for ground improvement grouting in exceptionally poor ground, where required.Where required for technical review and checking, conduct face-mapping to verify rock support and grouting requirements.
