Principal Accountant

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented **Principal **Accountant **to join our team

**What You'll Be Doing**:

- Payment Processing : Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments, including reviewing invoices, recording transactions, and issuing payments to vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations of payment transactions, bank statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies or errors. Resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports related to payment transactions, such as monthly bank reconciliations, cash flow statements, and aging reports. Summarize and present findings to management as needed.
- Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations and guidelines related to payment processing. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and procedures, including internal controls.
- System Support: Collaborate with the IT department to optimize and maintain payment systems, troubleshoot any issues, and suggest enhancements or improvements to streamline processes.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support related to payment processing and financial transactions.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities for process improvement within the payment department. Develop and implement effective strategies, procedures, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure smooth payment processes and address any related issues or concerns.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance, training, and support to junior staff members within the payment department. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

**What Required Skills You'll Bring**:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or financial roles with a focus on payment processing and reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Experience working with payment systems, such as ERP or financial management software
