**CHIEF VETERINARIAN**

**1.**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

I. The Chief Veterinarian provides professional veterinary services, including both surgical and medical diagnostics and treatment, as required to small animals and horses.

i.1. Provides clinical and surgical veterinary services as detailed for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Perform these services in conjunction with other veterinarians according to the established roster and emergency on-call rotation.

i.2. Carries out and amends established procedures for professional veterinary services concerned with animal treatment, vaccination, and record maintenance.

i.3. Maintains standards of proper professional veterinary practice.

i.4. Provides consultation and advice for other veterinarians.

II. The Chief Veterinarian provides supervision of all Veterinary Services and directs administrative activities of the clinics.

ii.1. Shall be responsible for the effectiveness of all veterinarian services provided.

ii.2. Proposes recommendations for innovations in equipment, materials, and techniques within the clinic.

ii.3. Participates in and contributes to a quality assurance program.

ii.4. Provides effective communication with community organizations that require information and assistance on matters of animal control or health.

ii.5. Oversees boarding and grooming services through the function of the Boarding Coordinator.

ii.6. Maintains continuing education program for professional staff.

ii.7. Provides training for clinical staff.

III. The Chief Veterinarian directs and supervises animal control and rabies prevention programs in agreement with the partner client-approved medical practices.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

I. Have a Veterinary science degree from a recognized university of veterinary science in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

II. Current valid license to practice veterinary medicine in their country of origin, as specified above.

III. Current valid license or eligibility to obtain a valid license, to practice in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

IV. Ideally five (5) years of experience in general veterinary disciplines, both surgical and medical.

V. Documented postgraduate or Continuing Education Credits.

VI. Experience in equine medicine and surgery.

VII. Extensive experience in small animal veterinary medicine and surgery is required.

VIII. Fluency in oral and written English.

IX. Current inoculations for both tetanus and rabies.

I. The veterinarian provides professional veterinary services, including both surgical and medical diagnostics and treatment, as required to small animals and horses.

II. Provides examination, diagnosis, and treatment to small animals and horses and documents services.

III. Advises and informs clients of their animal’s diagnosis, treatment plans, and prognosis. Offer advice on animal diet and training and behavioral problems.

II. Administer vaccinations.

III. Perform a full range of surgical procedures, as necessary.

VI. Supervises nursing care of post-surgical patients as well as hospital medical patients.

VII. Provides 24-hour emergency on-call services to all districts by participating in a rotation schedule with other veterinarians.

VIII. Assists chief veterinarian in defining and implementing an effective rabies control program.

IX. Liaises with partnered client’s proponent in matters relating to public health. Perform postmortem examinations as necessary.

X. Supervises quarantine, health examination, and disposition of stray animals.

XI. Assist the chief doctor of veterinary medicine in overseeing boarding and grooming services through the function of the boarding coordinator.

XII. Performs other duties as required by the chief veterinarian.

VIII. Fluency in oral and written English.
