**Job Purpose**

To oversee and direct the Anatomic Pathology Laboratory provided by an internationally accredited Laboratory in a University Hospital, offering primary to tertiary care, education and research.

**Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities**
- Performs duties in accordance with the Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAAUH) policies and safety standards, and ensure the established departmental policies and procedures are in compliance with all mentioned accreditation bodies.
- Provides consultative services to physicians and other healthcare practices for interpretation and correlation of laboratory tests according to the KAAUH standards.
- Evaluates updates and develops new laboratory tests/techniques in the assigned division of the Laboratory.
- Implements, maintains, and documenting all laboratory manuals, policies and procedures, safety standards, Quality Control/Assurance measures and all related standards according to national and international such as Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
- Approves labs send-out requests to referral lab.
- Participates in all educational programs within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
- Supervise, train, teaching, and all the educational activities to the students, residents, and others.
- Encourages and participates in approved research projects according to established policy.
- Participating in general undergraduate and post-graduate teaching activities, based on related rules and regulations describing staff rights and responsibilities.
- Serves on KAAUH committees as requested.
- Provides supervision and development of direct reports. Interviews, hires, trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
- Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
- Recommend to the senior management with regard to long-term planning of the Laboratory Services and its research activities.
- Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at KAAUH.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.

**Job Qualifications and Experience**
- American, Canadian, European, board certification or equivalent with more than five (5) years’ experience in CAP, CBAHI accredited Lab.
- MD degree with Board/Fellowship Certificate in Anatomic Pathology recognized by SCHS and acceptable to KAAUH.

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in CAP accredited Lab or any other national/international accredited Labs.
