**Role Overview**:
The Head of Maths will lead the Maths department, driving academic excellence and fostering a passion for mathematics in students from Years 5-8. The role involves overseeing the delivery of a high-quality curriculum aligned with the UK National Curriculum, ensuring exceptional student outcomes. This leadership position requires a strategic, visionary approach to curriculum development, departmental management, and staff support, while playing a key role in promoting numeracy school-wide.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead the planning, delivery, and assessment of engaging Maths lessons for Years 5-8, aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
- Set and drive the vision for the Maths department, establishing clear objectives and strategies to achieve high standards of teaching and student progress.
- Develop and maintain a challenging and inclusive Maths curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Inspire and lead the Maths team, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
- Use data-driven insights to monitor student progress, implement targeted interventions, and ensure all students reach their potential.
- Foster a love for Maths by promoting problem-solving, logical reasoning, and independent mathematical thinking.
- Mentor and support teaching staff, leading professional development and sharing best practices within the department.
- Work closely with other departmental heads to ensure coherence across the curriculum and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with parents to keep them informed about student progress and achievement.
- Manage departmental resources, including budgeting, ensuring effective use of tools and materials to support teaching and learning.
- Uphold the school’s values, ensuring a positive and supportive learning environment.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- A degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Significant experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 2 and/or Key Stage 3, with a strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of improving student outcomes and driving departmental success.
- Expertise in curriculum design, data analysis, and teaching differentiation to meet diverse student needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire and lead a team of educators.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
