Associate Consultant, Medical Oncology

Responsiblefor provision of medical care in Medical Oncology, in accordance with currentmedical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the hospital’s policies andprocedures.
**Essential Responsibilities and Duties**:
- Clinical Responsibilities
1. Participates in the duties necessary forthe efficient handling and reporting of all examinations.
2. Establishes and maintains diagnosticservices in Medical Oncology in coordination with Section Head.
3. Communicates with clinicians andparticipates in their rounds and conferences.
4. Assists the patient’s primary physicianregarding test utilization and interpretation.
5. Ensures high levels of employee and patientsafety.
6. Verifies all quality control andproficiency testing and prepare for laboratory inspection.
7. Monitors performance standards includingquality assurance, quality control and troubleshooting.
8. Provides optimal support of patient care.
- Academic Responsibilities
1. Directs and advices junior physicians onpatient management, especially in Medical Oncology.
2. Guides and actively assists in the trainingand teaching of Fellows and Residents in Medical Oncology.
3. Keeps abreast with all the latesttechniques and developments, especially in Medical Oncology, following andimplementing them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.
4. Actively participates in the educationalactivities and training programs of the department.
5. Participates in national and internationalmedical conferences.
- Research Responsibilities
1. Participates in clinical or basic andeducational research projects in Medical Oncology in order to advanceknowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to thenational and international recognition of KFSH&RC.
- Administrative Responsibilities
1. Undertakes the administrative dutiesassociated with the running of the department.
2. Participates in departmental meetings andserves on hospital committees, as required.
3. Assists the department in the developmentand implementation of techniques and practices that help maximize theutilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.
4. Abides by the current hospital and medicalstaff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated ofany changes that might occur.
5. Follows all Hospital related policies andprocedures.
6. Participates in self and others education,training and development, as applicable.
7. Performs other relatedduties as assigned.
**Education**:
Graduationfrom an accredited medical school acceptable to the Hospital.
**Experience Required**:
Five(5) years of training in specialty and subspecialty plus post-trainingexperience is required.
