**Job Description**:

- ** PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES**
- As a member of the JIGPC site engineering team, the Civil Engineer performs engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities, such as roads, channels, pipelines, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units in the plant facilities of JIGPC.
- Be the Lead Civil/Structural Engineer to manage the delivery of the civil and structural scope either by managing a team of Owners Engineers or undertaking the work by himself or executing using a local 3rd party Design Contractor.
- When using a 3rd Party Design Contractor
- Be able to develop the scope of work for 3rd party Design Contractor.
- Assess the suitability of the documentation to be issued to the 3rd party Design Contractor for the detail design.
- Be able to monitor the detail design work outsourced to 3rd party Design Contractor in given time frame and to review the 3rd party Design Contractor’s work to meet the Project’s requirements.
- Involved in the execution strategies and upfront work for projects to establish the design basis for the Civil and Structural scope. (Topological surveys, geotechnical investigations, drainage strategy, Developing the conceptual Civil and Structural design basis, understanding the construction estimates).
- Provide guidance and oversight for ‘design and build’ contracts.
- Review or Develop the scope of work for the civil and structural construction Contracts. Provide technical support during bidding process and construction.
- Assist JIGPC engineering team in keeping up with requirements of national codes to develop and maintain up to date the JIGPC standards and specifications.
- Bring experience to suggest new economical ways in designing the work - identify problem areas in the work practices and suggest improvements based on feedback and own previous experience.
- Involvement with proposals for future work such as estimating manhours and quantities for construction costs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- The Principal Civil/Structural Engineer shall hold an engineering degree in Civil Engineering and be a chartered engineer of a relevant international recognized Institution (like the ICE or IStructE in the UK.
- Civil and Structural experience in executing project in existing brownfield units in the Process Industry.
- An overall 20+ years’ experience in the civil engineering field is required.
- A proven track record is required as Lead Civil and Structural Engineer on multimillion USD projects to complete the scope to budget and schedule.
- Experience in the following area’s would be expected:

- Foundation design both shallow and piled for a variety of structures - dynamic equipment e.g., compressors, building foundations, static equipment and Piperack structures.
- Detail design experience of drainage services.
- The structural design of steelwork structures such as pipe racks, buildings.
- Good understanding of geotechnical terminology and principles to aid discussions with geotechnical specialists to appreciate ground conditions.
- Appreciate the duration for various civil and structural tasks to assist in preparation of project schedules.
- Have knowledge in the use of industry wide design software package like - STAAD-Pro.
- Use of various international design standards - AISC, IBC, ASCE, Euro codes. Familiar with Saudi Aramco standards is a pre.
