**Job Summary**:
Executive Director of Research and Innovation exercises oversight in all aspects of the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI). This includes the pursuit and management of funding, supporting the innovation and commercialization streams, and advocating for the University research and innovation projects and products. This further includes acting on behalf of the University to relevant internal units and external entities.

**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**
- Directs and plans the research and innovation section by creating a shared vision, leadership, and oversight to execute the university's vision and strategy related to Office of Research and Innovation.
- Participates on the management for providing input on decision-making regarding operational and program direction for the various areas related to the research and innovation.
- Provides clear and useful reports for the management and other stakeholders as needed to implement the strategies and programs relevant to Alfaisal’s mission and vision.
- Conducts research and analysis of issues as requested, including preparation of reports, white papers and journal publications recommendations and other materials.
- Writes proposals as necessary to fund or initiate research evaluation or special projects.
- Establishes the University’s research and innovation strategy, in coordination with the colleges, and in alignment with the University’s mission, as well as alignment with the leading research and innovation entities in the country.
- Implements the strategy through effective operational plans and targets, to be evaluated through KPIs/OKRs outlined by the Ministry of Education, ETEC and ranking entities.
- Identifies and updates the University’s research priorities, in coordination with the colleges.
- Identifies and establishes the University’s capacities and expertise in research and innovation.
- Oversees the management of research and innovation funds, both internal and external.
- Advocates for the University capacity and outcomes of research and innovation.
- Liaises with relevant internal units and external entities.
- Identifies and support the pursuit of external funding and sponsorship opportunities.
- Generates reports for the status and achievements of research and innovation in the University.
- Manages the Office of Research and innovation operation and personnel.
- Performs all duties in a professional, competent, and confidential manner.
- Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the VP Graduate studies, Research, and Innovation.

**Education & Experience**:

- PhD degree in engineering or business Administration or equivalent from an accredited institute.
- Certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent (Desirable).
