**Basic Function**:

- Assist the anesthesiologist with the procedures on adult, pediatric and neonatal patients. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- To provide assistance to Anesthesia personnel in assembling equipment and supplies for the administration of anesthesia, perform cleaning of equipment, receiving and storing of supplies and to clean anesthesia work and storage areas.

**Scope**:

- Assist the anesthesiologist throughout the healthcare facility. physiologic and hemodynamic monitoring in neonatal, pediatric and adult in operating room, intensive care units, emergency department, and general wards and outside operating room. Provides anesthesiology technical services on twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, including holidays.
- Work is performed in Dhahran Health Center wherever anesthesia service is required inside and outside the operation room areas including Obstetric and labor ward areas. All Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization inpatient and outpatients are potential customers with an average of 750 anesthetic administered in the operating room area and Procedures performed outside the operation room. The position is closely Supervised by the Anesthesiologist.

**Principal Contacts**:

- Anesthesiology technical services Staff members, anesthesiologists, Physicians; Nursing staff, other health professionals and clerical staff; Company employees and their dependents as patients and other visitors and their families.
- Daily communication and work status update and distribution to ensure effective safe delivery of the patient care service.
- Attending Anesthesiologists to set up anesthesia requirement and management plan.
- Handover endorsement to peers to ensure adequate continuity of service and safety.

**Principal Duties**:
1. Manage and support all anesthesia care patients for Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal populations.

2. Be proficient in airway management of all age groups including manual resuscitation and assistance with intubation.

3. Perform arterial line sampling.

4. Perform calibration, quality control and routine maintenance of arterial blood gas analyzers.

5. Participate in Code Blues (Internal Cardiac Arrests).

6. Work in all areas assigned, including: operating room, Intensive care units, Emergency Department, General Wards & Outside operating room.

7. Participate in the transport of ventilated patients of all age groups internally.

8. Adheres to infection control standards and safety standards of this facility.

9. Adheres to policies and procedures of the anesthesiology technical services unit and of JHAH.

10. Recognized that this is a JCIA accredited Hospital and adheres to the JCIA expectations of all employees.

11. Collect required CME’s and maintain Ministry of Health Licensure.

12. Provides other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

13. Assists Anesthesiologist in the preparation and maintenance of

patient equipment and anesthesia delivery systems before during and

after anesthesia in various settings.

14.Washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.

15.May assist Anesthesiologist with transporting and monitoring patients.

16. Performs duties under the direct supervision of the Anesthesiologist.

17. Under direct order and supervision will draw up and administer Intra-venous drugs.

**Education**:

- 2 year Diploma in anesthesia technology/operating department practitioner ; or
- Allied health certificate with at least 1 year specialized diploma in anesthesia technical services, or
- High school specialized diploma.
- Bachelor’s degree in anesthesia preferred.

**Experience**:
Up to 3 years experience

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Current licensure by Saudi Council for Health Specialties, as anesthesia technician.
- Competency in written and spoken English required and knowledge of Arabic an asset.
