Senior Resident Construction Engineer Offshore

**Principal Objective: A brief summary of the responsibilities of the position**

**Major Activities Performed: List the major job function(s) of the position.**
- Monitors construction Contractors’ mechanical installation and testing activities, including, but not limited to piping, leak tests, foundation de-watering system, etc.
- Assists Contractor with coordination of the MEP process, including the development of safe working procedures
- Witnesses Contractors’ quality control inspections to ensure that the permanent works are constructed according to the contract, applicable codes, standards, approved drawings and specifications (i.e. leak detection, equipment startup and commissioning).
- Reviews Contractor-submitted shop and as-built drawings, materials submittals, tie-in procedures, project schedules, and work permits; and assists SRCM in obtaining their approval and/or comments.
- Hydro testing and dewatering package reviews for compliance of applicable standards.
- Reviews Contractors’ mechanical quality assurance and quality control programs, inspection and test plans, installation, testing, and as-built procedures, for all mechanical systems and comments for transmittal to the contractors.
- Arranges meetings between the Contractor and concerned departments/organizations to resolve interfacing problems during construction.
- Organizes, coordinates, and conducts in conjunction with the concerned departments/organizations acceptance inspections and re-inspections of the completed permanent works, until all deficiencies are corrected and signed off.
- Assists the Project Controls Cost Engineer, or Contract Administrator, by reviewing Contractors’ invoices for correctness of installed quantities for the structural portion of the permanent works.
- Attends regularly scheduled meetings between the Construction team and the Contractor.
- Initiates and prepares for SRCM draft mechanical related letters, memos or reports to Contractors and other Departments.
- Recommend approval of schedule changes in the sequence of construction activities where required.
- Compile technical data to prepare weekly and monthly reports on project progress, cost and quality control. Conduct or direct fact finding investigations and advise SRCM of problems in meeting schedules or specifications.
- Assist SRCM in administration functions and initiate correspondence to contractors and other departments for SRCM’s signature. Assume responsibilities of SRCM in periods of absence.
- Review and verify that items submitted for billing on Work Estimates are justified and confirm actual performance. Determine the percentage of work completed and recommend payment of Work Estimates as appropriate. Advise contractor when not acceptable or of necessary corrective action or additional documentation required

**Experience and Qualifications: List the background experience required for the position, number of years’ experience, in what fields. Describe the desirable academic background.**
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field from a western university.
- Minimum 12 years’ extensive mechanical offshore experience in the supervision field of construction management.
- Experience in large diameter pipework GRP / HDPE up to 4000mm diameter
- Working knowledge of barge dredging construction practices.
- Working knowledge of deep excavation dewatering procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant marine and environmental standards and practices
- PMP certification is desirable and US professional Engineer registration is preferred.
- Must be fluent and able to effectively communicate in both spoken and written English Language.
