**Principal Objective: A brief summary of the responsibilities of the position**

The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides mechanical design services to the Technical Support Section and performs mechanical design review and provides support within a multidiscipline engineering environment, answers A/E reviews, prepares engineering/design contract RFP’s, reviews PC/EPC contract-based design/shop drawings and materials and carries out construction troubleshooting. Interfaces with other sections/disciplines of the department and may perform work in collaboration with A/E or other design professionals.

**Major Activities Performed: List the major job function(s) of the position.**
- Perform mechanical engineering work to meet the Royal Commission’s development program.
- Coordinate mechanical design engineering activities with those of other disciplines and the project engineering and management teams.
- Provide technical advice to other Engineering Department Sections and Units and other Departments.
- Provide technical assistance during construction contract bidding, proposal evaluations, negotiation, and post-award construction administration services.
- Review the engineering and documents prepared by the Royal Commission’s A/E consultants, including, but not limited to their design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare scope of work descriptions and value engineering.
- Perform design calculations like hydraulic calculations, drainage calculations and cooling load calculations.
- Familiarity with engineering software like Caesar pipe stress analysis, Elite fire hydraulic software and Carrier HAP is a plus.
- Review construction contractor field erection plans, shop drawings, and product (material) datasheets.
- Perform field inspections and provide field support and troubleshooting during the construction process.
- Set out detailed Quality Control and Assurance (QC/QA) terms and conditions.
- Prepare quality and safety presentations.

**Experience and Qualifications: List the background experience required for the position, number of years’ experience, in what fields. Describe the desirable academic background.**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from a recognized University with 12 years of professional experience and a minimum of 8 years of mechanical design experience, preferably with international design consultants.
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East and knowledge of Saudi building codes will be considered an advantage.
- The ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English is essential.
- Must have sound experience in design and construction of Pump Stations and Sewage Treatment Plant and also experience in building services like HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection System in various types of buildings.
- Experience in design and construction related to large scale community development projects.
- Prepare and review design reports, drawings and calculations from concepts through detailed design to construction issue.
- Must be fully conversant with international codes and standard like American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), International Code Council (ICC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
- Experience of working with AutoCAD Revit. At a minimum, good working knowledge of working in a BIM Environment (strong BIM Experience would be an advantage).
