About the Opportunity

Radiation protection and emergency preparedness specialist

This is a technical role within the National Centre for Radioactive Waste Management (NCRWM). The NCRWM has the responsibility to coordinate the development of the Saudi national infrastructure for radioactive waste management and to operate national facilities for the storage and disposal of radioactive waste. The NCRWM also has responsibilities under the National Plan to Respond to Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies.

The NCRWM has a need for an experienced radiation protection and emergency preparedness specialist to join the team and support the establishment and implementation of standards for safety and security as well as the NCRWM emergency arrangements. The specialist is also expected to support the maintenance of the safety case and associated arrangements.

The NCRWM is also focusing on the development of its human and technical capability. With that mind, the individual is required to take a lead or support the development and implementation of plans to build the NCRWM human and technical capability.
- Take the lead in the development and maintenance of standards for safety and security and assist in the development or implementation arrangements.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Waste Facility safety case and associated compliance arrangements.
- Take the lead in the development and maintenance of emergency arrangements for which the NCRWM has responsibility.
- Provide technical advice and expertise, and act as an intelligent customer in radiation protection and emergency preparedness.
- Specify, manage and co-ordinate support from within the organization and other external entities, as required.
- Support the development and implementation of plans to build the human and technical capability of the centre
- Provide mentoring support to the NCRWM staff.
- Work effectively and maintain strong relationship with internal and external stakeholders.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:
Experience / Skills:

- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to lead scientific and technical meetings and organize conferences, workshops, training events, etc.
- Ability to interact and to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across organizational boundaries and ability to interact effectively with internal and external counterparts in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity.

Certification and Experience:

- Radiation protection professional experienced in developing and/or managing radiation protection programs in radioactive waste or nuclear facilities
- Holder of a recognized certificate or member of a recognized society in radiation protection.
- Experience in the development and/or maintenance of a nuclear safety and environmental cases.
- Experience in nuclear licensing, permits and consents.
- Experience in the transport of radioactive material.
- Experience in writing technical specifications for the procurement services related to radioactive waste management.
- Experience in the role of intelligent customer.
