**Job Title**:Living Lab Technician

**Reports to**:Living Lab Leader & Manager

**Majors requirement**: Soil science, Biochemical, Plant production, Biology, Chemistry and Food process.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Living Lab Technician will be part of a well-coordinated analytical/research laboratory team and will be responsible well general maintenance of the laboratory and help the researcher with their day-by-day tasks.

**Essential Functions**

- Clean all the labware following the SOPs for each kind of material/equipment/tool.
- Keep all floors clean.
- Must be able to perform laboratory processes using an aseptic technique
- Must keep all workstations clean and organized
- Keep inventory of lab consumables
- Help researchers in different areas

**Supervisory Responsibility**

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

**Work Environment**

This job is generally in a laboratory setting environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.

The noise level in the work environment can be loud, with tight corners, and workspaces. Extensive walking and equipment operation. Exposure to pesticides, fertilizers, and organic matter samples. Work time expectation: 80% of the time will be physical labor, 20% training, and misc.

**Physical Demands**

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform this job's essential functions successfully.

The employee must be the ability to frequently lift to 20 kilos and maneuver between benches and equipment. The employee must also repeatedly carry 5 to 10 kilograms the length of the laboratory. Typical physical activities include bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, climbing, gripping, grasping, and lifting.

No travel is expected with this position.

**Required Education and Experience**
- Basic math skills.
- High school Diploma
- Experience working in lab settings
- Experience working with plants

**Preferred Education and Experience**
- Prior nursery, landscaping, and/or agricultural experience.
- Prior Laboratory experience

**Additional Eligibility Qualifications**
- Ability to work effectively and in a cohesive team atmosphere with all areas.
- Must be able to work in a safety-aware environment.
