The incumbent has full responsibility and authority administratively over the assistant department. Directly responsible to supervise all assistant provided functions and activities. Communicate policies, standards and regulations to personnel and medical staff.

1. Assess the clinic need to determine number of assistants needed to perform duties assigned and forward the required number of assistants to the administration to ensure availability of requested number of assistants.

2. Have the right to designate tasks to the nursing staff.

3. Involved in the interview and hiring process of dental assistants.

4. Responsible to develop a new hire orientation manual and continuously update it as needed.

5. Orient all new hired assistants.

6. Develop the assistant work templates as needed.

7. Accommodate any special needs on the schedule such as add on clinics or changes.

8. Monitor infection control within the clinic and perform routine checks of operatories to ensure proper adherence to infection control policies and procedures (a check list needs to be developed if not present and filled and discussed every time an inspection is performed).

9. Routine checks to ensure no expired materials are present in operatory.

10. Routine checks of operatories to ensure proper stocking and ensure no overstocking of materials.

11. Resolve any issues with supplies and ordering in coordination with the MD and Purchasing officer.

12. Monitor sterilization process and accuracy within the clinic.

13. Monitor quality of radiographs and determine sources of shortcomings if present.

14. Ensure proper adherence to changing of processing solutions.

15. Responsible to submit periodic reports regarding performance of each assistant.

16. Conduct routine workshops, seminars, etc. in various areas such as infection control, sterilization, radiography, four handed dentistry, introduction to new materials etc.

17. Review insurance policies and procedures with assistants as needed to ensure no insurance fraud.

18. Routine meetings with dental assistants to discuss any concerns, suggestions, etc.

19. Discuss any issues regarding the dental assistant staff with the medical director or executive manager as needed.

20. Any other tasks deemed necessary by the administration.
