**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**A.** Serve as technician over the all photography, plate making, film assembly and stripping, copying and bindery operations in the reproduction of manuals, books, pamphlets, forms and other matter which require the use of such equipment as a large copying camera, Xerox cameras and copiers, processors, and fusers, film and plate washers, 120 line-133 line halftone screens, film printers, vacuum frame, photo printer, layout, rub up and opaquing tables, chemicals, specialized materials, and other precision instruments.

**B.** DMA shall exercise technical leadership and ability overall production activities of the Printing Shop consisting of (1) Offset presses, (2) Cameras, (3) Plate making, and (4) Duplicating Bindery operations. This includes planning and scheduling work based on needs, requests, priorities, equipment capabilities, availability of personnel, and job specifications. Continuously studies methods, procedures, and techniques of workflow for the most effective use of equipment, personnel, and materials. Plans unique or unusual assignments schedule, and if necessary, methods of completion. Inspects equipment, oversees maintenance work, and makes recommendations concerning equipment replacement as necessary. Establishes and defines quantity and quality standards and periodically inspects work of others for both.

**C.** Coordinates the activities of the Print Shop with RSLFAC personnel who use the finished products. Notifies all concerned of problems such as inability to provide items by
requested dates, infringement upon copyright laws, etc., and attempts to address their resolution. Maintains production records and supply files and submits production and
supply reports. Exercises full authority over personnel responsibilities (i.e., granting leave, details, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals) over subordinates. Promotes safety, cost

reduction, and other specialized management.

**D.** May be required to perform other qualified duties as may be assigned by the functional supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:,**

**A.** High School Diploma is required or equivalent.

**B.** Bachelor degree in business management is desired.
**C.** Specialized training in Film Assembly and Stripping, Plate Making, Offset Photography,
and Offset Press Operation is mandatory in 3 out of the 4 listed. Specialized training in
print shop operations is required.
**D.** Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in printing shop operations is required. At least
four (4) years must have been at the technician with leadership level and three (3) at the
apprentice/working level.
**E.** Special skills are required in providing cross training for employees in the print shop. Must
be skilled in proper use and operations of offset presses, cameras, plate making
processes, and duplicating/bindery operations. Must be capable of providing assessments
to the RSLFAC on running efficient print shop operations and providing annual budgets for
consumable materials, repair, and preventive maintenance of print shop equipment.
**F.** Must be able to handle prolonged standing, bending, and reaching for long periods of time.
Good eye-hand coordination; and lifting and carrying copy materials and supplies weighing
up to 20 lbs are required. The plate making work requires energetic arm movement when
plates are processed by hand. May require frequent lifting and carrying of plate making
materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English
and Arabic languages. Non-smoker is desired.
