Wood is recruiting expertise in both ecology and environmental impact assessments to work with our Environment team in Al Khobar office.
- Proficiency in ecological survey techniques (e.g., sampling design, species identification, habitat evaluation).
- Planning and undertake ecological surveys to identify and assess flora, fauna, and habitats in project areas, biodiversity assessments, habitat mapping, and ecological monitoring.
- Analyze and interpret ecological data to evaluate potential impacts on biodiversity.
- Deliver Biodiversity Action plan, Ecological management plans, Ecological Impact Assessments, and update relevant sections in EIAs
- Understanding of flora and fauna flagship species and experience in undertaking Critical Habitat Assessment.
- Understanding of ecological technical guidelines for no net loss, net gain and offsets.
- Prepare comprehensive EIA reports, identifying potential impacts on air, water, soil, biodiversity, and local communities.
- Familiarity with national and international environmental regulations, including biodiversity and ecological protection guidelines (IUCN, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, etc).
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies (NCEC, NCW, NCVC), clients, and stakeholders throughout the EIA process to ensure project approval.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into project designs and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for producing reports and engaging with stakeholders.
**Educational Background**:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, or a related field.
- Registration with international environmental institutions such as CIEEM / IES / IEMA
**Experience**:
- 8 to 10 years
- Proven experience in ecological surveys, biodiversity assessments, and habitat mapping in KSA or Middle East.
- Strong experience in leading or conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for a variety of sectors (e.g., oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, construction) in KSA or Middle East.
