HSE Engineer

JASARA PMC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HSE Engineer to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Investigate accidents and incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Provide training and support to employees regarding health, safety, and environmental practices
Maintain accurate records of health and safety data, including incident reports and safety assessments
Stay current with changes in health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practices
Health, Safety, and Environmental Risk Assessment
Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential health, safety, and environmental risks associated with operations, processes, and work environments. Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments to determine areas of concern.
Evaluate Safety Systems: Review existing safety systems, processes, and equipment to identify gaps or weaknesses and recommend improvements.
Safety Audits and Inspections: Perform regular safety audits, site inspections, and environmental assessments to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies.
Identify Hazards: Spot potential hazards such as toxic exposure, fire, chemical spills, machinery malfunctions, and environmental risks (e.g., air, water, soil pollution).
Compliance with Regulations and Standards
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization is fully compliant with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental laws, standards, and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001.
Maintain Documentation: Maintain records of safety inspections, audits, incident reports, and compliance with HSE regulations for legal and reporting purposes.
Update Safety Protocols: Stay current with changes to health, safety, and environmental legislation, and update internal procedures and policies as needed to remain compliant.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles, preferably in construction or project management
Strong understanding of HSE regulations and compliance requirements
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Professional certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA are highly desirable
. Implementation of Safety Measures
Develop Safety Programs: Design and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures to address identified risks and ensure safe working conditions for all employees.
Emergency Response Plans: Develop and implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fire, chemical spill, workplace accidents, and natural disasters.
Provide Safety Equipment: Ensure that workers have access to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is properly maintained and used.
Safety Barriers and Controls: Recommend and implement engineering controls, administrative controls, or safety barriers to reduce exposure to identified hazards.
Training and Awareness
Conduct Training: Provide regular health, safety, and environmental training for employees to raise awareness of risks and safe work practices. This can include new hire safety orientations, first aid/CPR training, and machinery operation training.
Promote Safety Culture: Foster a strong culture of safety within the workplace by encouraging employees to report hazards, near misses, and unsafe behavior.
Safety Campaigns and Initiatives: Launch internal safety campaigns and initiatives to increase employee awareness about specific hazards and safety practices.
