Roles and responsibilities

Provide the Sponge site with Safety direction and support to ensure safe and (RC" Royal commission" and HCIS "High Commission of Industrial Safety") regulatory compliant operation across the Site through effective supervision of the Safety team in close collaboration with colleagues both within the team and with other functions.

You will be responsible to:

  • Ensure specifications of new machinery and equipment are meeting safety standards.
  • Continuous inspections of facilities and equipment to identify hazards and take required action to rectify.
  • Overview safety procedures and rectify unwarranted situation.
  • Recommend improvement in safety regulations, procedures.
  • To take lead and demonstrate leadership during emergencies, or accidents.
  • Interpret results and implement changes/corrective actions regarding work related accidents to avoid/prevent accidents reoccurrence.
  • Keep records of various inspections, e.g., Fire extinguishers Hoist, lifting slings, exit signs, and other safety signs.
  • Take initiative to rectify any defective safety signs or situation conducive to personnel safety.
  • Organize periodic inspection of safety related equipment including fire hydrants, extinguishers, foam truck, cranes, and hoists.
  • Ensure site compliance with Safety Management System and ISO45001.
  • Interface with sponge site personnel to develop safety awareness and interface with management to review policy matters from time to time.
  • Address and coordinate formal correspondences with HCIS and adhere to HCIS requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Safety Management System.
Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent engineering degree.
Minimum Experience:

5 Years or more of experience in safety management systems and ISO-45001
Experience with industry working under HCIS jurisdiction.

Evaluate risks: Assess the severity of identified risks and prioritize them based on their likelihood and potential impact.
Propose mitigation measures: Develop strategies to reduce or eliminate identified risks, such as redesigning processes, installing safety devices, or implementing engineering controls.
Safety System Design and Implementation
Design safety systems: Design and develop engineering solutions and systems that enhance safety in the workplace, such as fire suppression systems, ventilation systems, or emergency shutdown mechanisms.
Integrate safety features: Work with design and engineering teams to ensure that safety features are integrated into new equipment, machinery, and infrastructure from the outset.
Implement safety protocols: Develop and implement safety protocols, standards, and operating procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations.
