Role Summary

The
Senior Mechanical Estimator
will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for
mechanical systems
— including
HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection
— across major construction projects.

This role requires a deep understanding of
LEED-certified projects
, sustainable design practices, and cost-effective solutions that align with project scope, schedule, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimate Preparation & Analysis

  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to prepare detailed mechanical estimates.
  • Perform
    quantity take-offs
    , cost calculations, and evaluate subcontractor/supplier bids.
  • Develop
    preliminary budgets
    , detailed cost models, and risk analyses.
  • Coordinate with design and project teams to ensure alignment with project goals.

2. LEED & Sustainable Construction Expertise

  • Incorporate
    LEED and green building
    standards into all estimates.
  • Evaluate
    energy-efficient systems
    and sustainable materials for cost impact.
  • Support teams in achieving
    LEED certification targets
    (Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

3. Bid Strategy & Coordination

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and subcontractors.
  • Participate in
    pre-bid meetings
    and site visits.
  • Prepare
    clarifications and bid assumptions
    for tender submissions.

4. Cost Database & Benchmarking

  • Maintain and update cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Benchmark new estimates against
    historical project data
    to ensure accuracy.

5. Client & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Present estimates and methodologies to internal teams and clients.
  • Support
    negotiations
    with suppliers and subcontractors for best pricing.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's in
    Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management
    , or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP
    accreditation is a plus.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in
    mechanical estimating
    for commercial, hospitality, institutional, or industrial mega projects.
  • Proven experience with
    LEED-certified
    or sustainable projects.
  • Familiarity with
    Design-Build
    ,
    CM at-risk
    , and
    Hard-Bid
    methods.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in estimating tools (e.g.,
    Trimble MEP, FastPipe, QuickPen
    ).
  • Experience with
    Revit, Navisworks, and BIM
    workflows.
  • Advanced
    Excel
    skills for cost modeling and analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong
    analytical and problem-solving
    mindset.
  • Excellent
    communication and negotiation
    abilities.
  • Able to work
    under pressure and tight deadlines
    with minimal supervision.
