Patient mix includes both adults and children, and procedures include:

  • Pediatric and congenital heart disease surgery
  • Adult Cardiac surgery (e.g. high-risk redo surgery, surgery for thoracic aorta)
  • Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
  • Robotic cardiac surgery (valve replacement/repair, VADs placement and heart transplant)
  • Heart, lung, and combined heart lung transplantation
  • Interventional cardiology procedures (TAVR, MitraClip, Triclip, etc)
  • Diagnostic and interventional pediatric cardiology procedures (heart defect device-closure, PPVI, Fontan fenestration closure)
  • Electrophysiology and cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED)
  • Intra-operative echocardiography: TEE certificate/experience is an essential requirement
  • laparoscopic thoracic procedures
Desired Candidate Profile

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree
  • Current, active medical license in: Canada, the United States, the UK, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand
  • National Board Certification in Anesthesia from the United States, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
  • Subspecialty training in cardiac anesthesia required
  • Minimum five years of post-specialty certification experience working as a Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology (working with adult CT patients, pediatric CT patients, or BOTH adult and pediatric CT patients) in a tertiary-care, academic hospital in the United States, Canada, the UK, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
