Job Description: Flexible PU Foam Engineer

Job Location: Egypt (6th of October City)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Flexible Polyurethane (PU) Foam Engineer to

join our technical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the formulation, Machine

Operation, Product development, production optimization, quality control, and

troubleshooting of flexible PU foam used in applications such as furniture, bedding,

automotive, and packaging. This role demands a strong background in polymer chemistry

and foam processing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

 Design and develop flexible PU foam formulations (slabstock, molded, high-resilience,

viscoelastic, etc.).

 Select and evaluate raw materials such as polyols, isocyanates, catalysts, surfactants,

blowing agents, etc.

 Must have knowledge and usage experience about different types of Polyols.

 Must have good experience on Troubleshooting during the foam production.

 Operate and optimize foam production processes to improve yield, quality, and

efficiency. Must have experience to operate the foaming machine .

 Preferable experience on Laaderberg / Cannon Viking Foaming Machine .

 Set up and fine-tune foaming machines (slabstock) and processing parameters.

 Ensure the physical, mechanical, and chemical properties of the foam meet internal and

customer specifications.

 Interpret test results (density, hardness, tensile strength, compression set, elongation,

etc.).

 Investigate and resolve foam defects such as voids, shrinkage, scorching, or

discoloration.

 Provide technical support for production and maintenance teams.

 Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards .

 Maintain accurate documentation of formulations, process changes, and test results.

 Coordinate with production, sales, and quality teams to meet project timelines and

customer needs.

 Provide technical input to procurement regarding raw material selection and sourcing.

Qualifications

Education:

 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material

Science, or a related field.

Experience:

 Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on experience in the flexible polyurethane foam industry.

Skills:

 In-depth knowledge of PU chemistry and foaming technology.

 Familiarity with slabstock and molded foam processes.

 Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

 Good communication and teamwork skills.
