Reporting to Principal on a working on day -to -daybasis with Academic Leader RationaleThe Visual Arts Teacher position is aunique role as it explores deep connections between the children's currentinquiries and thinking and facilitates an opportunity for children to expresstheir understandings through the symbolic languages of The Arts such asdrawing, painting, clay, wire, collage.Workcollaboratively with children, teachers and the community to develop a VisualArts programme that supports and deepens the learning that is taking placethrough class -initiated inquiries.Work closelywith the classroom teachers to connect directly with the class inquiries and beflexible and open to change and new ideas as they emerge in your work alongsidethe children.Create avariety of opportunities for children to express themselves and makediscoveries using the symbolic languages of The Arts such as drawing, painting,clay, wire, collageMeet weekly with the class teachers and Academic Leader to discussideas and connections to the Units of Inquiry.Maintain ahigh standard of teaching practice and professionalism.Undertakecontinued professional development and share the scope of Visual Arts with theschool community.Document children's learning making connections to The Arts Scopeand Sequence: eg: Portfolio entries, newsletters, community display boardsCoordinatethe "Celebration of Learning" annual community eventAttend weeklyplanning and staff meetingsManage and develop pre -school resources and materials forPerforming Arts programmeAdditional duties as required by the Principal or the AcademicLeader QualificationPersonalknowledge and experience working with the Arts is of key importance in therole.Diploma inVisual Arts and is working towards obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Visual ArtsPersonal interest in and further development of the discipline of Artsthrough regular and on -going professional development.
