Job Purpose

BIM Modeler (Mechanical) is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating detailed 3D digital models and shop drawings of civil infrastructure projects-such as Infra-networks roads, and bridges.

  1. Principal Accountabilities

Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Implement and uphold safety and security protocols to protect the well-being of all employees and company assets.

3D Modelling and Detailing

  • Develop and maintain accurate 3D BIM models for mechanical systems (Gravity, Pressure Networks Piping, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, BMS, etc.) using software such as Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD
  • Create shop drawings, orthographic, isometric, and exploded views, as well as fabrication and installation details for infrastructure projects
  • Add relevant details, materials, and technical information to the models, ensuring they meet project standards and specifications.

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Work closely with civil, structural, and electrical engineers to integrate mechanical models with other disciplines and ensure overall model coordination.
  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings, perform clash detection, and resolve conflicts between mechanical and other systems using tools like Navisworks.
  • Communicate with project manager/ project director, designers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and address technical challenges.

Quality Assurance and Standards

  • Adhere to BIM protocols, company standards, and industry codes (e.g., health and safety, regulatory requirements) throughout the modeling process
  • Conduct quality checks, reviews of models, drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Manage and document revisions and updates to models and drawings, ensuring proper version control and traceability.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Generate detailed documentation, including construction, shop drawings, schedules, quantity take-offs, material submittal, and technical reports directly from BIM models.
  • Maintain organized records, libraries of technical drawings, models, and related documentation.

Problem Solving and Technical Support

  • Identify and resolve technical issues or clashes in the modeling process, using creative problem-solving and engineering principles.
  • Support the project team by providing technical input, troubleshooting, assistance with BIM software and workflows.

Continuous Learning and Development

  • Stay updated on advancements in BIM technology, software, and best practices relevant to mechanical systems in infrastructure.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.

Requirements:

  • Diploma In the relevant discipline
  • Proficiency in BIM Software like Civil 3D and Revit, AutoCAD
  • Coordination and Clash Detection by Navisworks; Quality Assurance and Attention to Detail
  • Strong understanding of Technical and shop drawings; Knowledge of mechanical Engineering Principles
  • 3-6 Years of experience in related filed
