Job Purpose

Responsible for handling and monitoring the technical development and integration of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and wet utilities. The role ensures that shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation meet project specifications and quality standards. It also provides support to junior engineers, addresses design-related issues during execution, and ensures mechanical works are aligned with project timelines, site conditions, and coordination requirements with other disciplines.

Principal Accountabilities

Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Implement and uphold safety and security protocols to protect the well-being of all employees and company assets.

Projects Technicality Operation

  • Prepare and review shop drawings and design documents for wet utilities systems, including potable water, firefighting networks, wastewater, stormwater, irrigation, and pump stations.
  • Review technical submissions, hydraulic calculations, method statements, and material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and authority requirements.
  • Handle technical issues, discrepancies, and RFIs related to underground utilities, ensuring proper interface with roads, structural, and MEP disciplines.
  • Ensure coordination between utility layouts and other infrastructure elements such as duct banks, crossings, manholes, and road levels.
  • Monitor the status of drawings, RFIs, submittals, and approvals to ensure timely delivery of required documents.
  • Provide technical support to construction teams during execution, testing, and commissioning of underground utility systems.
  • Evaluate technical offers from subcontractors and suppliers, participate in comparison sheets, and recommend technically sound alternatives where applicable, while guiding junior engineers and reviewing their work to align with project standards.
  • Conduct technical reviews of material submittals, method statements, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Coordinate effectively with structural, electrical, and architectural teams to resolve design and execution issues.
  • Manage RFIs, change requests, and design clarifications related to wet utilities.
  • Provide technical support and resolve construction-related issues during installation and commissioning.
  • Perform quantity surveying and validate BOQs for wet utility systems.

Self-Management

  • Align efforts with the department's engineering plans and provide regular technical updates and reporting.
  • Enhance technical knowledge in wet utilities systems, hydraulic modeling tools, and construction methods, while staying updated with infrastructure guidelines, materials, and best practices for underground networks and pump stations.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Mechanical / Civil Engineering
  • 5-8 Years of relevant experience in construction technicality
