The Base24 Lead is responsible for the design, development, configuration, and support of the Base24 (Classic / Base24-eps) payment switch platform. This role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of ATM, POS, e-commerce, and card transaction processing while providing technical leadership, managing critical incidents, and ensuring compliance with payment schemes and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Base24 Platform Leadership

  • Lead implementation, enhancement, and support of Base24 Classic and/or Base24-eps environments.
  • Configure transaction routing, authorization rules, settlement parameters, and device management.
  • Manage ATM/POS terminal definitions, network interfaces, and ISO8583 message mapping.

2. Cards & Payments Domain Expertise

  • Support card issuing and acquiring transaction processing.
  • Ensure smooth processing of ATM, POS, digital, and e-commerce transactions.
  • Validate ISO8583 message formats and integrations with payment schemes (Visa, Mastercard, Mada).
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, central bank regulations, and scheme mandates.

3. Project & Delivery Management

  • Lead Base24 upgrades, migrations, integrations, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare functional and technical design documents and solution inputs.
  • Coordinate with development, QA, infrastructure, operations, and business teams.
  • Oversee SIT, UAT, performance testing, and production deployments.

4. Incident, Problem & Change Management

  • Act as L3 support for Base24 platform incidents.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for transaction failures and performance issues.
  • Manage code promotions, patches, configuration changes, and controlled deployments.
  • Ensure 24×7 operational readiness of the payment switch.

5. System Performance & Optimization

  • Monitor transaction throughput, latency, and system stability.
  • Optimize routing, authorization, and clearing processes.
  • Improve system scalability, availability, and reliability.

6. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor Base24 developers, analysts, and support engineers.
  • Enforce best practices, secure coding standards, and operational procedures.
  • Communicate risks, progress, and recommendations to senior management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • 6–12 years of experience in payments technology.
  • Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience with Base24 (Classic and/or EPS).
  • Transaction authorization, switching, and settlement
  • Base24 configuration and routing
  • Experience with XPNET, TAL/COBOL (Classic) or C/C++/Java (EPS).
  • Knowledge of EMV, HSM integration, and key management.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and performance-tuning skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Base24 upgrades or migrations.
  • Exposure to digital channels, tokenization, and 3D Secure.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and automation tools.
  • Experience with payment scheme certifications and compliance.
