 Server, Storage, and Mainframe Management Specialist

Main Objective:

We are seeking a skilled Server, Storage, and Mainframe Management Specialist to oversee the management and optimization of our online storage and mainframe systems. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and efficient management of storage resources in alignment with our service levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Storage Management:

    • Monitor, manage, and control online storage based on I/O pattern statistics and performance data.
    • Configure and allocate required storage capacity to end users per approved change requests.
    • Maintain a catalog of information including storage allocation, utilization, user directories, files, and access patterns.

  2. System Administration:

    • Manage online storage thresholds and data archives.
    • Monitor user directories for file inactivity and generate monthly reports.
    • Maintain file directories and catalogs.
    • Provide online storage compaction as needed, aligning with production processing schedules.

  3. Data Migration and Archiving:

    • Oversee data migration and archive management activities.
    • Ensure implementation of industry best practices in storage management.
    • Manage storage data LUN migration activities.

  4. Change and Release Management:

    • Adhere to the Release Management Process, executing the Plan, Test, and Roll-out strategy.
    • Maintain complete configuration information of the storage.

  5. Mainframe System Management:

    • Monitor and manage the Mainframe system, including console events, batch monitoring, and recovery.
    • Support Mainframe application/system issues impacting daily batch schedules and online availability.
    • Document job scheduling, restarts, overrides and maintain logs of issues and resolutions.
    • Provide operational support for the Mainframe environment, adhering to Systems Development Framework and control processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in server, storage, and mainframe management.
  • Strong knowledge of storage architecture and management practices.
  • Familiarity with mainframe systems and batch processing environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
