The Head Steward is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the bakery, café, and kitchen areas across all the Croi stores in KSA and/or abroad including the office and catering/events. This role oversees the cleaning team, ensures all cleaning procedures comply with food safety standards, and provides continuous training on proper cleaning techniques, chemical usage, and hygiene protocols.
Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Supervision
· Lead and supervise the cleaning team (front of house and kitchen), ensuring all areas are cleaned to standard.
· Plan daily cleaning schedules and allocate duties to team members.
· Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
2. Training & Development
· Train all cleaning and stewarding staff on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and equipment use.
· Maintain up-to-date training records and ensure refresher sessions are conducted regularly.
· Demonstrate correct procedures for cleaning bakery equipment, display units, and food prep areas.
3. Hygiene & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with HACCP, local health regulations, and internal hygiene policies.
· Oversee correct storage and labeling of cleaning chemicals and ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are accessible.
· Monitor waste management and recycling processes to maintain sustainability standards.
4. Inventory & Equipment Management
· Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials, tools, and chemicals.
· Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and reported for repair as needed.
· Verify proper dilution and use of cleaning chemicals to ensure safety and efficiency.
5. Coordination & Communication
· Liaise with kitchen, front-of-house, and bakery teams to minimize disruption during cleaning activities.
· Report any maintenance or pest control issues promptly.
Participate in health and safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience in a stewarding or cleaning supervisory role (hospitality, bakery, or food service environment preferred).
· Knowledge of food hygiene, sanitation procedures, and chemical safety (COSHH or equivalent certification desirable).
· Strong leadership and communication skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
· Ability to train and motivate team members.
