Machine Operator

Role Purpose:

The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of 3D printers and a variety of post-processing equipment, including heat treatment systems, CNC machines, wire EDM machines etc. This role ensures that all production processes are conducted according to established quality standards and operational guidelines. The Machine Operator will collaborate closely with production teams to optimize workflow, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment, contributing to the overall success of manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include setting up, monitoring, and adjusting machine operations, conducting routine maintenance, and performing visual quality inspections of finished parts to ensure they meet specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate might need to work in different shift as per the business requirements.

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities:

Machine Operation:

• Operate 3D printing machines and post-processing equipment in accordance with work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Ensure machines are running efficiently and producing high

-quality output. - Monitor production runs and makes necessary adjustments to meet specifications.

Machine Setup Management:

• Prepare machines for production runs, including calibration, material loading, and parameter configuration.

• Perform setup and alignment tasks for post

-processing equipment (e.g., heat treatment, depowering, and wire-cut EDM).

• Ensure all tools and materials required for operations are available and ready for use.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

• Identify and troubleshoot minor machine issues to minimize downtime.

• Collaborate with maintenance teams to address more complex technical issues.

• Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on machines as required.

Documentation:

• Accurately record production data, including machine settings, material usage, and output quality. - Maintain logs of machine performance, maintenance activities, and any incidents.

• Ensure documentation is compliant with company and industry standards.

• Ensure all tasks are marked as completed and updated in the MES system promptly.

Safety Compliance:

• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines during machine operation and post

-processing activities.

• Conduct pre-operation safety checks to identify potential hazards.

• Ensure a clean and organized workspace to prevent accidents or equipment damage. 6. Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for improving machine performance, process efficiency, and product quality.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance operational workflows.

• Stay updated on advancements in 3D printing and post-processing technologies.

Education, Qualifications:

Diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing, machining, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

Experience

-2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, specifically with hands-on operation, 3D printers, and post-processing machines, plus

Skills:

• Strong understanding of operating 3D printers and/or various post-processing machines (CNC machining, wire EDM, heat treatment).

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine issues quickly and effectively.

• Knowledge of safety practices and protocols in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and reporting.

• Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
