Associate / Full Professor - Petroleum Engineering – Energy Sustainability

King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals ( KFUPM ), College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences ( CPG ) invites applications for a faculty position Associate/Full Professor of Petroleum Engineering with demonstrated expertise in the area of Energy Sustainability. We seek an outstanding individual to boost the program's reputation for cutting-edge research, dedicated teaching, and university and professional service. The Department has a strong tradition and international reputation in undergraduate and graduate education and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering. The B.S. program is accredited by ABET Inc., and currently ranks 5th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by subject category of Petroleum Engineering. The Department currently has 25 full-time faculty members, 2 lecturers, 15 post-docs, 7 supporting staff, and approximately 385 undergraduate majors and 110 graduate students. CPG has High-Performance computing facilities and maintains several industry standard software's. State-of-the-art engineering research and analytical facilities are housed in the Center for Integrative Petroleum Research ( CIPR ), CPG , including most instrumentation necessary for cutting-edge petroleum, geosciences, and mining engineering and mineral exploration research. Petroleum Engineering Program is enhanced through close collaboration with the Department of Geosciences within the College and with other departments on campus. Qualifications
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely related engineering discipline. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success for high-quality basic and applied research and scholarship. We seek an outstanding individual with demonstrated expertise in sustainable and emerging energy systems. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to hydrogen, energy storage and distribution systems, sustainable exploitation & utilization of resources; cycling and extraction of key elements; carbon capture utilization, and storage; application of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to energy sustainability and decarbonization, and development of geothermal resources and production technologies The chosen candidate will be expected to mentor or advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop advanced energy engineering courses in their area(s) of specialization, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Previous industry experience will be viewed positively.
