The Video Analyst Trainee supports the Performance Analysis team by assisting in the recording, coding, and breakdown of training sessions and matches. The role is designed to develop technical and tactical understanding while building practical skills in video analysis tools and workflows used within professional football environments.

Key Accountabilities

Match & Training Analysis

  • Assist in filming training sessions and matches using club-approved equipment.
  • Support the coding of key match and training events (e.g., transitions, set pieces, possession phases).
  • Help prepare pre-match and post-match video reports under supervision.
  • Upload and organize footage on the club's analysis platforms (Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout, etc.).

Technical Support

  • Prepare cameras, tripods, drones (if used), and ensure proper setup before sessions.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and report any technical issues.

Data & Reporting

  • Support the creation of short clips for coaches and players based on specific requests.
  • Assist in building presentation slides and video packages for team meetings.
  • Contribute to the tagging and categorization of the club's video database.

Learning & Development

  • Participate in internal learning sessions on tactical principles, software usage, and match analysis methodology.
  • Shadow senior analysts to understand professional workflows and standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Sports Science
    ,
    Sports Coaching
    ,
    Performance Analysis
    , or a related field (preferred).
  • Diploma or certification in video analysis tools/software is a plus.

Experience:

  • 0–1 years of experience in psychology, coaching, or internships in sports settings.
  • Previous voluntary work with athletes, teams, or academic research is a plus.

Skills:

  • Basic understanding of football tactics and positional roles.
  • Familiarity with analysis software (Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout) training can be provided.
  • Computer proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, video editing tools).
