Resident Engineer

RE is responsible for all planning aspects of a project. To implement and maintain project engineering records, monitor, and expedite weekly reports for accuracy, and develop and perform quality control procedures.

• Report to the Area Director and will be assisted by the structure's inspectors and land surveyors.
• Assist in checking the contractor's submissions and shop drawings.
• Assist in responding to the contractor's requests for information.
• Liaise with the inspectors, materials technicians, and land surveyors to ensure timely processing of the contractor's requests for inspection (RFI) to ensure there are no undue delays.
• Assist the Planning Engineer to prepare the monthly status reports.
• Monitor contractor compliance with QSE.
• Ability to speak Arabic would be a distinct advantage.

Contractor Interface

• Follow up inspections of the works and material delivered at site is as per the Contractor's Inspection Test Plan.

Site Operations Department Interface

• Coordinate leave request and discuss leave cover with the SITL.
• Liaise with OMSOD for all HR / Finance / Administrative issues.

Functional Duties

• Assume responsibility of the inspection of civil / architectural works in the project.
• Monitor performance of the contractor / sub-contractor and identify, raise any quality / workmanship concerns with the SQE / RE.
• Review quality procedures and effectively implement QA/QC plans across the project.
• Identify any particular site safety issues and bring to the notice of the contractor / SHSEE / RE.
• Carry out, witness all tests carried out by the contractor on-site and off-site tests.
• Inspect the works, on-site material, off-site material to be used in the project.

Line Management / Administrative Duties

• Update and maintain the latest revision of all project documents.
• Review, coordinate and forward submittals, inspection requests, technical query to the project team and/or discipline engineers.
• Assist the project site team during internal, external and site surveillance audits.
• Coordinate leave request and discuss leave cover with the SITL.
• Prepare and regularly (daily) submit reports and maintain records.

Technical Competencies

Essential:

• Minimum Bachelors in Civil Engineering qualified.
• Minimum of 15+ years' experience in Civil engineering or as RE.
• Previous site supervision RE experience.
• Understanding of British, American, and international design standards.
• Working knowledge of ICAO standards would be a distinct benefit.
• Good communication skills in written and spoken English essential.
