Laboratory Shift Supervisor

OBJECTIVE:

To ensure the execution of Shift analysis program in accordance with Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Conservation, Quality, Confidentiality and Protection of Company regulations.

Scope:

All ISO system programs, coordinate, evaluate and control the execution of analyses and measuring activities performed during 24-hour lab Shifts operation for all the operational sectors in accordance under SATORP procedures, guidelines and set parameters.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure the timely delivery of analytical results in quality and quantity requested by the sectors.

  2. Supervise the calibration, validation, and Statistical Quality Control of the measuring equipment.

  3. Ensure that technicians on shift follow the approved work instructions and test methods, and run the implemented quality control programs.

  4. Verify the integrity of data before release to customers, generate LIMS reports.

  5. Stop work in case of a non-conformance or a deviation from the approved procedures, recommend and implement solutions as needed. Take corrective actions according to approved standard procedures.

  6. Allocate and distribute shift workers' workload, and supervise the laboratory shift operation. Adapt management of the workload of the sector in coordination with other sectors and setting of priorities according to the Customer needs and requirements.

  7. Inform directly and quickly the concerned entities (Areas) & Chemists any unexpected/out-of-limit analysis results.

  8. Ensure proper communication/coordination with the different departments and with the other operation sectors for all activities, which may affect the operation of Lab, or for all the activities of Lab, which may affect the others.

  9. Maintain and follow-up on Key Performance Indicators to follow the performance (safety, accuracy, quality, availability, reliability) of the measuring equipment.

  10. Ensure the implementation of quality certification.

  11. Focus on the career development of staff. Monitor the performance of staff and carry out appraisals in a fair and ethical manner as per company rules. Realize the yearly appreciation of his team.

  12. Coach and counsel employees with regard to accuracy and technical issues as well as workplace personal issues. Ensure the personnel are properly trained and that each staff member has an acceptable level of expertise and experience to perform his duties.

  13. Assist the Lab & OSA section manager in the preparation of Shift Lab Capital and Operational budgets in accordance with directions received from the Superintendent. Propose modifications, new technology, participate in the review and support all technical enhancements required in his area.

  14. Ensure that the Quality Management System is satisfactorily operating in his area on a day-to-day basis. Initiate action to correct and prevent non-conformances and to recommend and implement solutions.

  15. Ensure compliance with all SATORP environmental health and safety regulations. Investigate incidents/accidents. Encourage and control risk analysis of any unusual operational or maintenance activities at the laboratory. Attend periodically group safety meetings.

  16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Laboratory & On-Stream Analyzers section manager.

Minimum Qualifications
:

Degree/ diploma in relevant discipline and 10 years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of experience and educational qualification.

  • Strong knowledge of various measuring and analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Good knowledge of metrology process.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Willing to work irregular hours.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Best professional and ethical manners.
  • Good command of oral and written English.
