Job Description:
The successful candidate will work effectively with the Vice President, Business Development, Maritime Sector and Vice President/General Manager Undersea Systems as well as government relations, technical, and functional entities for the purpose of achieving financial goals by engaging customers, identifying potential business opportunities, and supporting corporate and segment strategic growth activities. This position will be supporting the Undersea Systems Division of the Maritime Sector, leading multiple growth campaigns, specifically to protect and expand upon current and future maritime undersea-based franchises.
- Lead initiatives associated with all new business growth areas in the Undersea Systems Division
- Support USS Division objectives and participate as an active member of Division team.
- Serve as liaison to Sector growth initiatives representing Undersea Systems interests
- Identify new and adjacent markets, unmet customer needs and opportunities to expand existing programs/products
- Allocate and recommend discretionary resources as needed to shape and win opportunities and achieve financial goals
- Prioritize campaign engagements leveraging Senior Management participation
- Support collection of competitive intelligence and information to enhance L3Harris understanding of customers and competitor strategies
- Work jointly with Corporate Government Relations team on Congressional Strategic inputs
- Create and foster a business acumen culture that embraces a strategic, proactive approach to support business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and closing new business
- Assist capture teams with preparation of competitive assessments and win strategy development
- Represent L3Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry related meetings and conferences
- Collaborate with BD teammates including marketing communications, business development leaders, and capture teams
- Support new opportunity qualification process including "connect-the-dots" across other L3Harris segments/sectors/divisions to ensure we provide best value to customers
- Understand and influence sector/division strategies with customer perspectives
- Embrace a culture of "continuous learning" to improve our understanding of the technical drivers our existing and potential new customers seek to improve their mission capabilities
- Effectively translate technical understanding of our products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagement
- Estimate and manage new business funds used to pursue new business opportunities.
- Participate in strategic planning for internal research and development
- Execute campaign strategies supporting business capture planning
- Lead / support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes
- Manage the Undersea Systems Division's opportunity pipeline
- Act as a change agent for the business, ensuring strategies and campaigns are mission and customer focused
- Organize participation in forums/conferences to further position L3Harris as a thought leader in the space and intelligence industry related to specific strategic opportunities
- Manage people, their work products, and professional development with the end state of new business growth for the sector/division.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 15 years of experience or post graduate degree and 13 years of experience in the business development arena.
- Active SECRET Security Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI Security Clearance
- Experience leading new business capture
- Established contacts within Navy and Undersea Communities
- Understanding and familiarity with Navy and Undersea markets
- Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience leading new business pursuits
- Experience engaging with senior executives at government agencies, major prime contractors, and commercial companies
- Established contacts within Navy and Undersea Communities
- Understanding and familiarity with Navy and Undersea markets
- Ability to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed people
- Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis
- Demonstrated understanding of classified undersea mission lifecycles, including requirements development, system design and architecture, undersea systems operations
- Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
- Must work independently under limited supervision
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to Travel – up to 40%
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $171,500-318,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
