Summary

Incoming ISG Superintendent Rhonda Norrisseeks a highlyskilled strategic finance professional with provenbusiness office leadership experience to join ISG on August 1 2024to serve as the Director of Finance beginning in the 202425 schoolyear.

The Director of Finance will join adistrict leadership team that includes the Superintendent DirectorsPrincipals and site leadership team comprised of AssistantPrincipals grade level and department facilitators.

The Director of Finance will play a crucial role inguiding the financial strategy of ISG. Reporting directly to theSuperintendent the successful candidate will oversee all financialactivities ensure compliance with regulatory standards and providestrategic financial guidance to support ISGs mission andobjectives.

Position Duties

Thesuccessful candidate will be able to effectively:

Child Protection

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security ofchildren and young people (child protection).

Financial Planning andAnalysis

  • Develop andimplement comprehensive financial plans operating budgets andforecasts aligned with ISGs strategic goals.
  • Conduct and provide comprehensive financial analysis that includestrends of financial patterns to provide insights and makerecommendations for decisionmaking.

Capital Budgeting

  • Identify potential capital investment projects thatalign with the organisations strategic objectives.
  • Utilize various capital budgeting techniques to assessthe viability of projects and estimate the future cash inflows andoutflows associated with each project and monitor throughimplementation.

RiskManagement

  • Identify andassess financial risks implement mitigation strategies and ensurefinancial growth.
  • Stay informed aboutregulatory changes and international education trends affectingISGs financial landscape.

Financial Reporting

  • Direct all financial accounting budgeting and reporting of internalbusiness practices.
  • Prepare accurate andtimely financial statements reports and presentations for internaland external stakeholders.
  • Prepare an annualreport for the Board of Trustees.
  • Maintainand supervise the Districts financial reporting systems includingdatabase systems.
  • Collaborate with otherdepartments to ensure financial data accuracy andconsistency.

Complianceand Audit

  • Ensurecompliance with all relevant accounting standards legalrequirements and government regulations.
  • Facilitate annual internal audits and coordinate with externalauditors the annual independent audit of the financialrecords.

ResourceAllocation

  • Optimizeresource allocation to support educational programs and initiativeswhile maintaining financial sustainability and growth.
  • Provide strategic guidance on funding priorities andresource utilization.

Communication

  • Proactivelycommunicate with the Superintendent District Office administratorsand Board of Trustees about progress and challenges.
  • Proactively make recommendations to the Superintendenton improvements to make in the business operations and budgetdevelopment.
  • Prepare and present monthlyfiscal reports on ISGs financial operations.
  • Model open and honest communications throughout the schoolcommunity.
  • Participate fully in seniorleadership meetings at school and district levels.
  • Participate in Board of Trustees meetings and committeesas requested.

BusinessOffice Administration

  • Acquire and maintain an excellent working knowledge of ISGsorganizational policies practices and procedures.
  • Review existing finance department operations andimplement initiatives in accordance with current businesspractices.
  • Direct and supervise all businessoffice operations including but not limited to: budgeting reportingauditing accounts receivable accounts payable payroll purchasing(vendor management) and property control.
  • Supervise the operation of all businessrelated operationalinformation systems.
  • Assist theSuperintendent and the Board of Trustees in the development andrevision of financial policies.
  • Manage thedistrict investment process.

Team Leadership andDevelopment

  • Lead andmentor the finance team members fostering a culture ofaccountability professionalism and continuousimprovement.
  • Provide training and developmentopportunities to enhance the team members financialacumen.
  • Set and hold finance departmentemployees accountable to high standards for performance.
  • Fulfill the expectations of staff evaluation identifiedin district policies and regulations and assist in the successfulimprovement or release of nonperformers.

Liaising and Networking

  • Collaborate with and facilitate externalconsultants in support of the strategic goals.
  • Network with relevant professional organizations onbehalf of ISG.
  • Contribute to financedepartment and district communications efforts including publicrelations as appropriate.

Other Duties

  • Performother duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

Qualifications and Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A masters degree in Accounting Business EconomicsFinance or related field.
  • Certification as aCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst(CFA).
  • A depth of knowledge in accountingprinciples budgeting financial planning business office operationsand reporting.
  • Knowledge of educationalfunding models and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of current trends in finance in an international schoolcontext.
  • Knowledge of current trends andfinancial resources available in technology.

Experience and Skills

Theideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Extensive experience in project capital budgeting fororganizational growth.
  • Proven experience anddemonstrated competency in financial leadership roles of a largeand complex international education organization or notforprofitsector.
  • Proven track record incollaboratively leading change and implementing finance improvementinitiatives.
