Job Description

We are seeking a results-oriented Application Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our business applications. You will be responsible for ensuring our applications are highly available, performant, and secure. You will lead a team of support professionals and collaborate with developers to optimize application functionality and deployment processes.

Responsibilities

**Management and Operations:**
  • Manage the application operations team, including delegating tasks, providing coaching, and performance management.
  • Oversee application deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes.
  • Implement and maintain processes for application change management, incident response, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure high application availability and performance through proactive maintenance and monitoring.
  • Identify and troubleshoot application issues, implementing solutions to maintain optimal user experience.
  • Manage and prioritize application security vulnerabilities, working with developers to implement remediation strategies.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Work closely with development teams to understand application functionality and ensure smooth deployments.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure applications meet their requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding application status, updates, and potential issues.

Process Improvement And Automation

  • Continuously monitor and improve application operations processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to streamline tasks and reduce manual work.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest tools and technologies for application operations.

Metrics And Reporting

  • Track and report on key application performance metrics (KPIs) such as uptime, response time, and error rates.
  • Generate reports that provide insights into application health and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of experience in IT operations or related fields.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in application operations management or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of application deployment, configuration management, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with various operating systems and application platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Agile or DevOps methodologies is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in managing IBM FileNet, Microsoft SharePoint, and Microsoft IIS.
