The Role


The Associate Design Guardian will display a wide range of knowledge of preferred solutions to design problems and can accurately review all types of drawings for errors, omissions, and conflicts.


The Associate Design Guardian's work is always rooted in the project's vision and goals, cultural, and environmental equity, and supports a holistic and inspired team culture.

They understand and are champions of the client's goals, and build strong and sustainable client relationships through clear and timely communication and have mastered the art of project delivery at multiple scales.


The Associate Design Guardian understands and contributes to the overall C+P business strategy and the various business design support roles and systems.

They support business operations with tasks that might include supporting formal mentorship initiatives, staffing, drafting project proposals, business development and networking events, and interviews for new work.


This role promotes the health of the project and team across our four pillars; Design and Technical Excellence, Financial sustainability and Culture.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes strong working relationship with Project Director, Technical Manager and Client representatives and their respective teams.
  • Maintains client relationships and assists client with decision making.
  • Manages project teams and leads external team coordination.
  • Develops scope of services, fee proposals, project milestones, design project completion dates and provisions for fee adjustments for project leadership review.
  • Participates, supports, and increasingly leads project presentations and design reviews.
  • Leads development of design and ensures that intent is maintained throughout all aspects of the project: plans, sections, drawings, specifications, renderings, presentations, and reports.
  • Reviews drawings of team members for plan quality, accuracy and for office graphic standards sketches plan concepts.
  • Recommends solutions for inconsistencies with overall design intent.
  • Communicates potential risks and seeks direction from project leadership. Has the ability to understand root cause and assist to implement procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Leads a material research and selection process.
  • Handles construction and technical issues to resolution.
  • Creatively and successfully supports internal and external teams of various sizes and complexity across multiple projects, implementing detailed work plans and cultivating a spirit of growth, collaboration, high morale, and efficiency. Understands and manages overall project profitability targets including managing resource challenges within financial goals.
  • Manages invoicing, participates in project reviews and maintains management software work plan.
  • Writes specifications/clarifications for the development and markup of technical plans, sections, and details

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years practical Landscape Architecture experience or a combination of education, work experience, and the demonstration of the required duties and responsibilities
  • 5+ years, experience working in KSA or surrounding region preferred
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute or equivalent professional membership encouraged
  • Confident, regional planting knowledge
  • Recognizes industry trends and guides C+P towards a stronger position in the marketplace. Understands how to gain cooperation and build consensus; can resolve internal and external conflict.
  • Mentor's others in leadership skills and is a resource for people and taskmanagement skills.
  • Understanding of Construction costestimating and bid process, and of financial aspects of project process.
  • Software and Systems experience:
  • Experience using Procore or other known construction management software
  • Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
