The Role
The Sr.

Associate Design Guardian will be accountable for leading a team that oversees construction, preserves original design intent, and works closely with numerous consultants and client teams to produce complex built projects.

This role requires the preservation of intent for design form, finish and custom details, resolution of technical issues and identification of/advocacy for preferred design changes across the project.

Associate Design Guardian's work is always rooted in the project's vision and goals, cultural, and environmental equity, and supports a holistic and inspired team culture.

They understand and are champions of the client's goals and build strong and sustainable client relationships through clear and timely communication and have mastered the art of project delivery at multiple scales.


This role promotes the health of the project and team across our four pillars; Design and Technical Excellence, Financial sustainability and Culture.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes strong working relationship with Project Director, Design Guardian, and Client Representatives and their respective teams.
  • Advises client with clearly communicated decision making and regular updates.
  • Leads project presentations and design reviews.
  • Accountable for scope of services, fee proposals, project milestones, design project completion dates and provisions for fee adjustments for project leadership review.
  • Manages project teams and leads external team coordination.
  • Leads development of design and ensures that intent is maintained throughout all aspects of the project: plans, sections, drawings, specifications, renderings, presentations, and reports. Guiding project team members as necessary.
  • Responsible for drawings of team members for quality, accuracy and for office graphic standards sketches and concepts.
  • Resolves inconsistencies with overall design intent.
  • Accountable for identifying potential (construction & Design) risks and providing direction to leadership.
  • Ability to understand root cause and implement procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify necessary procedures, conceptualize and implement them.
  • Leads material research and selection process.
  • Creatively and successfully leads internal and external teams of various sizes and complexity across multiple projects, implementing detailed work plans and cultivating a spirit of growth, collaboration, high morale, and efficiency. Understands and manages overall project profitability targets including managing resource challenges within financial goals.
  • Accountable for resolving construction and technical issues resolution.
  • Coordinates trades, design consultants, construction manager, and contractors
  • Responsible for project financial metrics.
  • Manages invoicing, participates in project reviews and maintains management software work plan.
  • Writes specifications/clarifications for the development and markup of technical plans, sections, and details.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 15+ years practical Landscape Architecture experience
  • 10+ years, experience working in KSA or surrounding region preferred
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute or equivalent professional membership
  • Confidence in native + sustainably appropriate plant selection
  • Recognizes industry trends and guides C+P towards a stronger position in the marketplace. Understands how to gain cooperation and build consensus; can resolve internal and external conflict.
  • Mentor's others in leadership skills and is a resource for people and taskmanagement skills
  • Extensive knowledge concerning the impact of design changes on a Construction Contract and the mechanisms available for allowing design changes. Contract Administration experience is preferred.
