Education and Professional Certifications/Licenses:

MD Degree with Board/certificate in Hemapathology and/or Transfusion Medicine that recognized SCHS and accepted by KAAUH.

  • American, Canadian, European, board certification or equivalent with more than five (5) years' experience in CAP, CBAHI accredited Lab.
  • MD Degree with Board/certificate in Hemapathology and/or Transfusion Medicine that recognized SCHS and accepted by KAAUH.
Three (3) years post board/fellowship certification/Ph.
D. in Transfusion Medicine.

**Job Purpose

Provides Lab Hematology & Transfusion Medicine consultations at internationally accredited Laboratory in a University Hospital, offering primary to tertiary care, education and research.

**Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Performs duties in accordance with the Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAAUH) policies and safety standards, and ensure the established departmental policies and procedures are in compliance with all mentioned accreditation bodies.
  • Provides consultative services to physicians and other healthcare practices for interpretation and correlation of laboratory tests according to the KAAUH standards.
  • Evaluates, updates and develops new laboratory tests/techniques in the assigned division of the Laboratory.
  • Implements, maintains, and documenting all laboratory manuals, policies and procedures, safety standards, Quality Control/Assurance measures and all related standards according to national and international such as Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
  • Approves labs sendout requests to referral lab.
  • Participates in all educational programs within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
  • Supervise, train, teaching, and all the educational activities to the students, residents, and others.
  • Encourages and participates in approved research projects according to established policy.
  • Participating in general undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities, based on related rules and regulations describing staff rights and responsibilities.
  • Serves on KAAUH committees as requested.
  • Provides supervision and development of direct reports. Interviews, hires, trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance, rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
  • Respects patients and their families to promote a patientcentered care culture.
  • Recommend to the senior management with regard to longterm planning of the Laboratory Services and its research activities.
  • Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at KAAUH.
  • Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facilities.
