Summary
Assists in providingmedical care in the field of Palliative Care Medicine, and supervises interns and residents, in accordancewith current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Hospitalpolicies and procedures.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Responsibilities:
Assists the Consultants inproviding required patient care and management in the field of PalliativeCare Medicine, in accordance with standards of medical carelaid down by the Healthcare Delivery.Studies and performsassessment, examination and the compilation of a case history and assists inthe diagnosis and management of the patient in accordance with criteria listedin diagnostic manuals such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.Registers detailed medicalhistory, conducts a thorough physical examination and creates a plan forpatient management and follows-up for discussion with the Consultant.Subsequently, records the consultant's orders, progress notes and other requireddocuments for outpatients.Provides on-call coverage frothierspecialty on a rotational basis during evenings, nights, weekends andpublic holidays.Prepares for and participates inconsultant and specialist ward rounds as per policy. Documents findings inmedical records.Follows up on investigationresults for outpatients and modifies treatment accordingly.Attends specialty clinics,outpatient clinics, and shares on on-call schedule as per requirements.Performs other clinical responsibilities,as assigned. Academic Responsibilities: Provides orientation, bedsidetraining and supervision of interns, residents and fellows as assigned.Keeps abreast of all thelatest techniques and developments, especially in area of specialization.Implements them on a selective basis to improve technical standards.Participates in theeducational activities and training programs of the department.Participates in national andinternational medical conferences.Education
Graduation from a medicalschool in good standing, completion of required period of postgraduate trainingin a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UKcertification, or equivalent as outlined by the Medical Staff CredentialingCommittee.
Experience Required
Two (2) years oftraining in specialty and subspecialty plus post-training experience required.
