We are now investing and building operations in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and have an exciting new opportunity for Alliance Management Associate Director, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Position Summary


The Alliance Management Associate Director will support in establishing smooth governance processes internally within Vertex and externally with partners across the GCC region.

He/she will be responsible to improve partnership effectiveness through the management of operational and relationship risks and ensure the overall alliance value is being delivered.


The Alliance Management Associate Director will work closely across functional team to inform future operating models in new markets and will lead new partner identification and contract negotiation as required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understands the overall business including business trends and Vertex corporate strategy and contribute to the management of the operations through effective participation and close working relationship.
  • Work closely with Vertex cross functional team to identify the best operating model in new markets and ensures effectiveness in current markets.
  • Establish holistic partner management governance process within Vertex covering end to end partnership stages; new partner identification, contract negotiation and implementation, partner onboarding, partnership management and partner offboarding.
  • Leads alliance relationship and consensus building in collaboration with commercial team and legal department to ensure partnerships delivers value.
  • Acts as the principal axis of communication for the alliance, both internally and with the partner, to foster a collaborative, winwin relationship between the partners; leads efforts to mitigate risks and accelerate value creation.
  • Manages internal functional teams through decisionmaking for activities and issues that affect the partner, often influencing without authority, to seek and obtain internal alignment.
  • Represents the partner to the internal organization, and vice versa, to proactively recognize and address problems or conflicts at early stage and takes the necessary steps to support for resolution with the partner and deliver winasone outcomes for the alliance.
  • Establishes alliance team, launch meeting, leads governance meetings, including administration.
  • Ensures all functions within the organization understand their obligations and responsibilities under the contract, including preparation of briefing documents.
  • Monitors and manages contractual obligations to ensure compliance with the contract.
  • Leads activities to measure alliance health and success and implements improvement action plans.
  • Terminates alliances in accordance with the contract and best practice, establishing Termination agreements and ensuring handback activities are completed so that a positive reputation for Vertex is maintained with the partner and in the industry, in collaboration with commercial team and legal department.
  • Generates and consolidates relevant market insights to inform brand planning and ensure Vertex addresses external customer needs.
  • Leads the brand planning process and ensures implementation and evaluation of brand plans by proposing meaningful KPIs and continuously monitors progress versus KPIs. If necessary, adjusts plan and activities based on the results.
  • Based on insightsdriven critical success factors he/she leverages multiple innovative channels and develops and implements tactics and projects to achieve business goals
  • Contributes to accurate budgeting and forecasting.
  • Develops materials and administers approval according to Vertex SOPs and compliance systems and local rules and regulations.

  • Supports the PSP development in line with Vertex SOPs and local regulations.
  • Tracks compliance of all activities to the Vertex code of conduct, SOPs and all applicable laws and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences
  • Business School degree or MBA

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience within a competitive field
  • Requires leadership experience in Alliance management in pharmaceuticals/bio
