The Statutory and Tax Manager - Gulf and Levant supports the Sandoz Group entities on Corpo-rate and Indirect Tax related matters, is responsible for tax compliance and manages the relation-ships with Country CFOs (CCFOs) and Countries' Tax Authorities for any tax related requestion, in addition to manage all statutory audits and reporting for countries in scope and support local fi-nance team with day to day operations and ad hoc.


Leading Taxes:

  • Management and ownership of all Tax activities in Gulf and Levant;
  • Ensure processes are in place for preparation, filing and archiving of all tax related documents, including statutory accounts, income tax and VAT returns, transfer pricing documentation, assessments, tax calculations, audit and litigation files and other tax relevant documents;
  • Manage data provision for Economic Substance and Country by Country Report rules, including liaison with Country Finance organization.

Compliance & Risk:

  • Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly and annual filing in all countries (engaging with external partners as required) and governing system configuration to ensure correct coding and tax calculation. Ensure withholding tax filings and payments and the availability of certificates if required;
  • Ensure availability of financial data & documentation (e.g. statutory accounts, intercompanyagreements);
  • Create awareness relating to tax risks and opportunities. Ensure adequate tax risk management and governance structure is maintained;
  • Support the Regional Tax Head
  • MEA in managing the tax audits, in close alignment with Transfer Pricing and/or external consultants, identifying and communicating, in collaboration with Country Finance organizations, potential tax exposures and aligning settlements with Group Tax;
  • Ensure any necessary audit information can be delivered within agreed timelines including IT access if required;
  • Review relevant tax returns and submissions of forecasts to tax authorities and submit them to CFOs for signature as required;
  • Support Country Finance organizations to ensure availability of information regarding net loss carry forwards, book to tax differences, current and deferred tax balances and tax reserves validated by Finance organization;
  • Ensure necessary IT systems are updated based on Tax regulation changes and deliver accurate tax information on time to local tax authorities. Where changes are identified, they are communicated to the relevant teams and successful execution is ensured;
  • Comply with internal control requirements and supports FRA Ops C&C in their review activity. Ensure compliance with NAM, NFCM, legal and regulatory requirements and implementation of internal guidelines;
Planning & Structuring

  • Provide data for alignment between Legal Entity and Division on profitability monitoring at local level to achieve profit result consistent with Transfer Pricing documentation and/or local Tax requirement;
  • Support implementation of M&A, BD&L and/or restructurings in close alignment with stakeholders;
  • Support preparation of divisional intercompany and/or crossborder agreements, in close collaboration with the Regional Tax Head
  • MEA;
  • Align with the Regional Tax Head
  • MEA and CCFOs on tax, legal and policy developments in the Region and communicate to stakeholders;
  • Develop and implement plans and timelines for remediation of any tax related issues.
Statutory Audit and FRA/Finance support

  • Responsible for the preparation of statutory financials and reports on a timely basis to ensure that all accounting standards and tax legislative requirements in relation to the GLS region are met.
  • Analyze information, reports, ledgers and other accounting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy, recommending appropriate actions and statutory adjustments where required to facilitate planning and decision making.
  • Work closely with our external auditors to provide advice and guidance as required and to assist with resolution of issues to ensure they are able to provide accurate, timely statutory financials.
  • Assist with the preparation of draft notes and disclosures to financial statements to comply with statutory requirements and auditor expectations.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives, including the maintenance of statutory adjustments into our financial systems (SAP statutory and Tax general ledger)
  • Assist the local finance and FRA team with accounting and reporting tasks, APP preparation, NFCM controls and other ad hoc.
