Services scholars with identified speech and language needs

Supports scholars who need assistance with verbal and non-verbal communication

Participates in meetings and processes for scholars (e.g. testing/screening, ILPs, parent conferences, pre-referral meetings, etc.). This may include presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/ scholars staff

Develops interventions and provides the necessary materials to implement them

Communicating and coordinating with the Director of scholars Support Services to ensure school mission, philosophy and procedures are embraced

Working collaboratively with LS colleagues to identify areas of growth and professional development within SLP at AISJ. These growth areas are communicated to the curriculum director, director of student support services, and superintendent

Keeping abreast of best evidence-based practices in speech and language therapy and language development

Demonstrates planning with consideration of differentiation needs, scholar engagement, and anticipates scholars' misconceptions and confusions during therapy

Collaborate and empower classroom teachers to feel capable of using accommodations and recommendations in the classroom

Create an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for each scholar within the first 6 weeks of school services enrollment warranted

Demonstrates content knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies

Data based decision in regard to placement, intervention, and supports

Individualized data collection tools to inform multidisciplinary team

Monitoring Assessment & Follow-up

Conducting screenings, observations, assessments, analyzing results, writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of receptive & expressive and feeding skills

Administer assessments for progress monitoring and/or placement along the continuum of services. Write an objective interpretation of the findings

Utilize various assessment tools and data collection to regularly obtain and monitor individualized goals

Frequently check for understanding and adjusting teaching, re-teaching and follow-up from the data

Analyze and reflect on collected data & progress monitoring results to continuously ensure individualized plans & goals are designed to meet scholar needs

Delivery of Instruction

Incorporating up to date interventions, practices, and support in and out of classes

Groupings to involve and motivate all scholars

Gets all scholars highly involved in focused work in which they are active learners and problem-solvers

Successfully reaches all scholars by skillfully differentiating and scaffolding

Pace of the lesson allows processing time

Lessons entail a variety of materials to address learner variability

Accommodations are evident for those scholars who require them

Ability to meet each scholar at their specific level if need

Modify lessons based on scholar's responses to interventions & growths/lack of progress

Advocate for the scholars by informing professionals of accommodations and best fit interventions for success

Designs each lesson with clear, measurable goals closely aligned with standards and unit outcomes

Seeks out effective teaching ideas from colleagues, workshops, professionals, and other sources and implements them well

Write and maintain individual goals yearly for each scholar on the SLP's caseload

Work collaboratively with teachers to report progress and implement appropriate classroom strategies such as visual support, explicit vocabulary instruction, chunk information, check for understanding. Such as visual support, oral motor exercises...

Create progress reports for parents on goals and achievements utilizing objective, asset-based language

Assist in screening tools for admissions and assessments relevant to placement

Collaborate through a multidisciplinary team-based approach with psychologists, counselors, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, parents, administrators, teachers, scholars, nurses

Working with colleagues to analyze data for placements and reflect on interventions effectiveness

Seeking and accepting feedback from colleagues to improve student growth

Capitalizing on each other's strengths and working with each other's areas of growth

Continually meet, model, and provide feedback for teachers, personalized learning assistants, and classroom assistants for fidelity of plans

Updates parents on the progress toward individual goals and suggests ways to support learning at home

Responds promptly to parents' concerns and make parents feel welcome in the school.

Work collaboratively with parents to ensure that they are an informed, participating part of the support process, goals, and responsibilities

Collaborate with community outside of AISJ

Preparing individualized targeted SLP goals annually for each student based on individually assessed needs

Developing therapy/treatment plans that are strength-based as well as child and family centered for overall educational improvement

Completing treatment notes and progress reports in a timely manner

Managing a detailed log of service provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences

Documenting all aspects of work with students

Maintaining appropriate, confidential records and providing timely reports

Designing and conducting professional development series starting at staff orientation and ending at the end of the school year

Designing and conducting training for parents and families

Modifying goals throughout the year based on growth/lack of progress

Conferring with the classroom teacher as requested concerning any educational needs of a student

Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders

Supports teachers toward inclusion & least restrictive environment for all scholars

Communicates respectfully with parents and is sensitive to different families' cultures, diverse abilities, and values

Shows parents a genuine interest and belief in each child's ability to reach standards

Gives parents clear, objective expectations for scholar learning and behavior for the year.

Promptly informs parents of behavior and learning areas of growth, and also updates parents on good news

Providing information on communication disorders, use of assistive devices, and/or implementation of strategies in classroom as part of ILP goals

Participating in the in-school screening process and Student Support Team Meetings as appropriate

Engaging parents and families in their student's learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community

Contributing productively to the school as a whole

Communicate and receive feedback on goals with classroom teachers

A list of scholars will be provided on the SLP caseload, with a continual need for review

Create a snapshot, a mini profile of each scholar on the caseload prior to the start of the year & share with all necessary parties (LS Teachers/PLA)

Know and understand the scholar's profile (academic, social, emotional, medical)

Seeks out effective teaching ideas from colleagues, workshops, and other sources and implements them well

Engage with community in after-school activities

Engage with community in open communication

Supervision duties will be assigned

After School Activity (1/week) and office hours (2/week)
