Project Summary:

Jubail stands as one of our significant accomplishments at Bechtel - a city that emerged from sand, symbolizing meticulous planning and substantial resource allocation on an unmatched scale. This monumental civil engineering endeavor continues to expand, representing one of the largest projects in recent history. Since the mid-1970s, Bechtel has overseen the Jubail project, located in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. Acting as the Management Services Contractor for the Royal Commission (RC), specifically as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) managers, we are deeply involved in managing design submissions and construction activities across Jubail and Ras-Al-Khair Industrial Cities. Our renewed contract with the Royal Commission extends our partnership for another five years, focusing on the development of residential communities, iconic buildings/bridges, essential infrastructure, and more.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assume the responsibility, under the Chief Mechanical Engineer, for scoping and reviewing the process design and control systems related to hydraulic systems, gas distribution, and steam distribution.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments, external stakeholders, and Construction teams to ensure efficient coordination across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Construction departments to integrate pre-commissioning and capacity planning seamlessly into facility design and construction strategies.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide crucial input in scoping, designing, and commissioning projects involving process elements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, planning units, end-users, and stakeholders to define demand scenarios accurately.
  • Support the development of design basis and scenarios for commissioning and operational phases.
  • Work proactively with design consultants to identify operating scenarios and requisite control system specifications.
  • Coordinate across disciplines to ensure incorporation of appropriate elements in the design process.
  • Engage collaboratively with construction, vendors, and end-users to plan for commissioning and review technical documentation.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential Technical:

  • Hold a university degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering, or related field with a minimum of 10 years' experience in process design.
  • Extensive experience in process engineering related to major utilities and industrial systems.
  • Demonstrated competency in process simulation, automation, and commissioning planning.

Essential Behavioral:

  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Display high collaboration across departments and disciplines.
  • Adapt effectively to diverse cultural environments.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Technical:

  • Experience in developing and reviewing various process design documents and utility diagrams.
  • Proficiency in sizing, calculations, and design reviews related to utility systems.
  • Practical knowledge of steam systems, mechanical engineering, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead process configuration studies and utility optimization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with engineering software applications for process infrastructure design.

Preferred Behavioral:

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and leadership skills, especially in challenging situations.
  • Prior experience working in KSA/Middle East environments.
  • Proven ability in managing people and demonstrating effective leadership.
